SCB Steelers Quick Hitters: The “Will Tuitt Ever Do It?” Edition

by Steeldad

Good Friday to you Steelers fans.

While many are out battling the crowds this Black Friday I’m once again pondering the future of Stephon Tuitt. I’m told many things from various sources and here’s what I’ve been able to conclude. No one really knows a damn thing about what is actually happening with him but I’ve been able to put together a few items that may give us insight. First, all of us know about the tragic death of his brother this past summer in a hit and run accident. Believe me, I know firsthand the pain this causes and I know you never truly “get past it.” You learn how to cope with it and time heals but it never leaves you. If this is the primary reason for his absence I would tell him the best thing you can do is keep living. Normalcy is important with grieving. I tend to believe however the bigger reason we haven’t seen him is injury. What wasn’t a secret was that he came into Camp out of shape and I think one of two things occurred. He either already had a pre-existing injury or he injured it trying to get back in shape. The “it” I’m referring to is his knee. Based on what I’ve been able to gather the injury is much more likely the issue here as to why he isn’t playing. As for “what if he doesn’t play all year?” questions… To cut him in the off-season saves you roughly $4.5 million but adds over $9 million in dead money. I’ll leave that for another day but one can’t help but wonder just what kind of difference his presence may have had on this team’s fortunes in 2021.

Tweet of the Day… Duce making sense.

Injury Notes: The Bengals are relatively healthy for this time of the season… Today will be HUGE in terms of the participation of Joe Haden and T.J. Watt. Both need a ‘full participant’ in order to play on Sunday in my opinion.

Thanksgiving

I hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving with family or friends or both or maybe you were by yourself and loved every minute of it. Either way I’m thankful you choose to read this everyday. It doesn’t matter if it’s 10 or 1,000 that do, I know I have a core of regular readers and please know I am grateful.

Over Officious Jerks

Did you see the Cowboys-Raiders game yesterday officiated by Shaun Hoculi? Over 20 ‘accepted’ penalties and I believe that was before the two teams headed to overtime. Many of the calls, especially the pass interference ones were legit but my gosh. The holding calls and lack of holding calls at the same time were just awful. And if you’re going to nail Cassius Marsh for taunting because he stared at our sideline then why weren’t guys flagged for standing over opponents or getting in opponent’s faces?? This are the EXACT reasons the taunting penalty was reinforced. Really bad day for this crew.

Running Back Help

I am not the type that every time a free agent is available says, “The Steelers need that guy!” In fact, I’m just the opposite. When Phillip Lindsay was cut by Houston last week he was a guy I actually thought could help the Steelers. Benny Snell and Kalen Ballage just aren’t what is needed and Anthony McFarland? Heck, will he ever get a helmet again? Lindsay wouldn’t have been a life-changing addition but I think he could have helped let’s put it that way. And Najee Harris needs help!

Pro Bowl

Voting for the 2022 NFL Pro Bowl is now underway. You can vote for all of your favorite Steelers by clicking this link right here. I’m of the opinion that Chris Boswell, Cam Heyward and T.J. Watt should 100% be on their way to this game.
