Good Friday to you Steelers fans.
Three weeks from this very morning, we will all be dissecting the heck out of what the Pittsburgh Steelers did the night before. Did they hold at 17? Did they trade up or down? Did they get a top cornerback or tackle? What about that 32nd pick? Did they trade back into the first round? Those are just several of the many, many questions that we could be discussing three weeks from now. Of course this three-week period could also see trades with teams that will impact what the Steelers do. The ‘Aaron Rodgers to the NYJ’ stuff could still impact the Draft. Teams that want a QB or top corner could also trade up in order to secure the guy they want. It’s all part of what makes this thing so damn fun!
The Podcast
We returned from our one week hiatus last night. Episode 313 of the SCB Steelers Podcast presented by DEK Roofing Inc is here for your listening and/or viewing pleasure. We discussed the arrival of new Offensive Assistant Glenn Thomas, how much free agency has really improved the team and we started to zero in on who believe the Steelers are taking in round of the NFL Draft.
Tweet of the Day… Been too long since I featured one of Dave’s amazing shots of Pittsburgh.
While the storms didn't plan out how I hoped in #Pittsburgh last night, I took advantage of the rain and new blossoms on the North Shore to capture what might be my favorite spring image this year. The eerie purple sky was the perfect backdrop for the trees and Andy Warhol Bridge pic.twitter.com/5Sadubi4qT

Mocking
Each year, I do a grand total of four mock drafts for the site. Usually one before the Combine, one following the Combine, one after free agency is a week or two old and then a final one the week of the Draft. This week I unveiled version 3.0. I feel like I’m starting to get an idea of where they are going but there are still some questions I’m not sure I’ll have answered until Draft night.
Sad to Say
One of the unfortunate side effects of our country’s tremendous division is sadly that it has affected fans of teams like our Steelers. It’s nearly impossible to have conversations anymore without politics being injected into those discussions. Yes, even discussions about football. I do my best to stay out of those situations with the reason being that this has and always should be an escape for us from the ugliness of politics and the current society in general. Hopefully on gamedays we can still come together and cheer on the Black and Gold but even that’s getting more difficult.
No WAY They’d Draft That Guy…
For all the talk about guys that teams will or would draft, are there guys who a team, like our Steelers, would never draft? Most people look at the QB position and say there’s no chance we take a QB in the first round. Are you sure??? Arizona took QBs in back-to-back first rounds not that many years ago. If Anthony Richardson is sitting there at 17, could it happen? What about Bijan Robinson? He’s one of the most highly touted running backs to be in the Draft in a long time. What if he’s there at 17? (OK, truth be told, Omar Khan would likely be on the phone with 31 other GMs asking if anyone wants to trade up) If they took Robinson, Najee Harris would likely be on the trade block. Can you imagine??? One of the more intriguing possibilities is Jaxon Smith-Njigba. I wouldn’t blame the Steelers one, single bit if they took him were he still there at 17. Kind of a fun exercise right?
Prospect Profiles
We’ve started our NFL Draft Coverage here at SCB and the first of our Position Profiles is out. We’ve made the decision that rather than make extensive profiles of each player, we are doing smaller ones and grouping them by position. This allows us to easier update information as Pro Days and the Combine provide more info.
