Good Friday to you Steelers fans.
There’s just something about that first Friday of the NFL season isn’t there? Fans all over the country are sporting their team’s gear in the office, on the job site and in the classrooms in the hopes that their team kicks of the 2022 season the right way this weekend. There are certainly those who may choose to be more loyal to their favorite college in anticipation of Saturday’s action which is understandable. But for those of us who live and die with the NFL, Friday is our day to start getting into the mood for Pittsburgh Steelers!
The Podcast
We aired episode 284 of the SCB Steelers Podcast presented by DEK Roofing Inc last night and gave you our thoughts on the week one game against the Bengals. It was announced this morning that the Steelers will wear a helmet decal honoring the late Dwayne Haskins this season. The QB passed away this past spring down in Florida.

Injury Notes: Obviously the two to keep an eye on here on Diontae Johnson and Chuks Okorafor. Both men are needed if the Steelers are going to pull off the upset of the AFC Champion Bengals. I’m told that Okorafor is dealing with some back spasms and nothing worse than that but if you’ve had them, then you know they can be tricky.
Off and Running
The Buffalo Bills are the overwhelming favorites to get to the Super Bowl from the AFC this year and last night they looked the part beating the defending Super Bowl Champion Rams 31-10. Josh Allen is often a man among boys out there… Interesting QB Matchup of the week is Joe Flacco leading the NY Jets against Lamar Jackson and the Ravens. I have a hard time seeing Baltimore lose this game… The most intriguing matchup of week one however has to be Cleveland visiting Carolina. Baker Mayfield starting against the team that drafted him number one overall and then discarded him like a used paper plate. I won’t be a bit surprised if the Panthers win this game.
