The Kickoff

Remember the seasons before Aaron Rodgers became a Pittsburgh Steeler? His Packers and Jets’ teams played the Steelers in back to back years and in both of those games we saw these little acknowledgements between Rodgers and Mike Tomlin. They were subtle, yet clearly noticeable interactions. Therefore it was no surprise that the two joined forces this year. I would be curious to know what Rodgers is thinking these days. The defense he thought he was getting is awful. The offense he’s been running has struggled all season and now he’s dealing with the same issues his predecessors had with guys not showing up to film sessions. The grass isn’t always greener here Aaron.

Band-Aids on Bullet Wounds

There was a time when adding Adam Thielen would have been considered a really solid move. At 34 years old, he’s far from those days as a reliable wide receiver. He has just eight receptions this season. I think his addition is further proof that Omar Khan and Mike Tomlin failed to have a plan for the departure of George Pickens.

Had Enough…

Many of you know who Andrew Filliponi is. He’s a Pittsburgh Sports Radio personality who likes to tweet some outlandish things. He does this for one reason; to get people fired up. After the Steelers’ loss Sunday, he tweeted that Art Rooney II had been seen leaving the game early in disgust over the team’s showing. Steelers’ Public Relations Man Burt Lauten apparently had seen enough and decided to correct Filliponi which delighted many people on the social media app.

I am very curious to see how Darius Slay does in Buffalo. After requesting and being granted his release by the Steelers, several teams were interested in Slay. His play in Pittsburgh was less than ideal let’s say that… Congrats to Alex Highsmith who was named the Steelers’ Walter Payton Man of the Year Award Nominee this morning… How strange would it be if the Steelers reel off five straight wins? Can you imagine the conversations we would be having… I think Mike Vrabel is proof that sometimes all you need is a new voice from the head coach. Yes, it helps to have a young, franchise-type QB but I think it goes far beyond that. Is that team still 11-2 without Vrabel? I don’t think so… The rumors of “Mike Tomlin to Penn State” have no merit as of now I’m told. What I do believe however is that Tomlin would be an excellent mentor and great leader for a collegiate-type community. That said, coaching college football is the wild west these days… I fully expect Casey Kasem to come strong tonight on the podcast.
