When the Steelers signed Lance Moore I thought his numbers may have been inflated by playing in the air it out Saints offense.
The more I hear from OTA’s so far, the more I think that Lance Moore will be the next Jerricho Cotchery, Ryan Clark, Keyaron Fox, etc.
That is, a guy that nobody was talking about at the opening of free agency, that the Steelers signed to a modest contract, but makes a big impact on the field.
I think that it’s good to have a good combination of play-makers and reliable targets in a receiver group (Antonio Brown happens to be both).
Lance will be one of the guys Ben looks to when he needs to pick up that tough 3rd down over the middle.
Moore, like Jerricho Cotchery, isn’t the most physically imposing pass catcher but he is quick, works the middle of the field well, and has very good hands.
Moore, also like Cotch, has a nose for the endzone despite not being a guy you’ll ever throw the corner fade to.
Despite not ever being a top passing option in the Saints offense, Moore has scored 6+ touchdowns in 4 of his 8 seasons, with 10 scores in 2008.
As great as Cotch was for the Steelers last season, I think that they’ve upgraded the slot position in 2014.
Moore, unlike Cotchery, has had good seasons several times in his career. Before his breakout 2013 season, Cotchery had 7 total touchdowns in his 4 seasons previous to 2013.
Ben Roethlisberger said that the chemistry between him and his new receiver is already flourishing, and that it feels like they’ve been playing together for years.
While he’ll probably never be a 1000 yard receiver for the Steelers, Lance Moore has the look of a typical free agency steal for Kevin Colbert.

one of the greatest things i liked about coach noll was that he never shook hands with an opposing coach after the game. hate is great motivator in winning a football game. allthis pc handshaking is a lot of crap.
