Hey Steelers Fans. Welcome to Tuesday
The Kickoff
If you ask most players and fans they’ll tell you that their preferred time for a game is 1pmET. For the players, it’s about consistency and routine while for the fans it’s about being able to have a little tailgating before the game and then some more after (if the team wins) or just simply about making easier travel arrangements. While we had a nice run of those games in the first half of the season, the second half offers no such fortune. When the Steelers return from their BYE, they won’t play another 1pmET game until December 20th when the Ravens come to town. From here. it’s primetime games and late starts and while that won’t keep most of us from watching, those 1pm games sure will be missed. It was a good run….
Wilson!!!
That was my impression of Tom Hanks in “Castaway” yelling for his beloved volleyball… The Wilson in question here is Garrett Wilson the New York Jets’ receiver. Jason LaCanfora reported yesterday that he thinks Wilson is going to be a Steeler before the trade deadline. One must consider that LaCanfora is a Baltimore guy. It wouldn’t be the first time he’s trolled Steelers’ fans. But also, Wilson makes over $32 million per season. Current Steeler D.K. Metcalf makes $33 million per season. Yes, the salary cap has exploded but that’s a lot of money into two wide outs. I think Ladd McConkey or Josh Downs is more likely.
Better Than This?
The Steelers’ run defense has been excellent the last few weeks right? Keep in mind they’ve done it with Derrick Harmon and Sebastian Joseph-Day on IR too. We knew this unit would have depth but I’m not sure they even knew how good it would be.
Wilson Part Two
Did you realize that Payton Wilson is currently 8th in the NFL in tackles? He’s 19th in tackles for loss with seven and he has a pick and a fumble recovery. I don’t think he’s in “All-Pro” territory by any stretch but he’s pushing for a Pro Bowl nod for sure. He plays with a level of passion, energy and anger I haven’t seen in a long time.
