Pittsburgh Steelers’ General Manager Omar Khan spoke publicly for the first time since the 2024 season ended in early January. His annual comments at the NFL Combine are always highly anticipated as he doesn’t speak to the media very often.

Khan’s Feeling on the Season’s End

“That can’t happen again…” The losing five straight or yet another embarrassing first round playoff exit? I realize that Khan has to say something but I think I speak for most Steelers’ fans when I say that I’m kind of tired of the lip service. Actions, not words.

Regarding the QB Situation

I’ll remind you that at this exact point last year Khan said he had “full faith” in Kenny Pickett. Therefore, I’m going to lean towards the second part of his statement. All options are on the table and they should be.

Regarding Najee Harris

I really do appreciate Najee Harris. He never missed a game in four years and often played hurt. I have tremendous respect for that. But he just isn’t a fit for this offense and he’s had plenty of opportunities to show what he can do. It’s time for someone more explosive and someone who is a threat every time he touches the ball.

About George

I view this the same way I view the “full faith” comment from last year. Exit meetings are nice and all, but do they really reveal what a player is thinking so soon after the season has ended? In a perfect world, Pickens matures and becomes a true number one wideout. This leads to him re-signing with the Steelers. This is not however a perfect world.

Khan also went on to say that Broderick Jones playing left tackle was a “safe assumption.” I’m honestly not sure what to think of this other than they believed him to be more capable of playing right than Dan Moore. Thus, they stuck with Moore at left tackle for one final season.

With the new league year kicking off in just a few weeks it will be interesting to see how many of these come to fruition or are nothing more than comments to pass the time.
