Injury Notes: The Steelers are relatively healthy as Aaron Rodgers does not have an injury designation and will start. Obviously losing both Jones and Harmon is not beneficial. As for the Bills, they are without both starting tackles which should mean that T.J. Watt and company should thrive. But… We’ve seen this before haven’t we?

What’s at Stake: While the Bills still have a game remaining against the Patriots, they need to stay within striking distance with a win over the Steelers. For Pittsburgh, it’s quite simple. They got a break with the Bengals beating the Ravens on Thanksgiving night so a win push their advantage out a game which could be huge.

Three Things We Need to See for a Steelers’ Victory:

Don’t Let Them Cook. I’ll make this really simple; if James Cooke is able to pick up consistently big chunks of yards then this game will be over quickly. The Bills’ Achilles Heel in my opinion on offense has been their unwillingness to stick with the run. OC Joe Brady likes to get Josh Allen plenty of throwing opportunities and many times those come at the cost of not running the ball when it’s working. With the lack of talent at the receiver position, that might work in the Steelers’ favor. At the end of the day however, if Cook has his way the Steelers are in trouble.

Stick With Your Own Running Game. You aren’t losing many games when you rush for 186 yards as the Steelers did in Chicago but it is what it is. The Bills’ defense can be run on as they rank second to last in the NFL. Regardless of whether it’s Aaron Rodgers or Mason Rudolph that starts at QB, Smith needs to resist any urge to try and win the game in the air. Stick with Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell. He needs to find a good rotation that puts each guy’s skills in the best possible position.

It’s a Broken Record But… COMMUNICATE! The pre-snap issues in which our defense is running around the like the Keystone Cops is one thing. The poor communication issues that continue into the play itself will be challenged even more on Sunday. Josh Allen’s ability to get outside of the pocket will force the Steelers linebackers and secondary to make sure guys aren’t running free. The Bills’ receivers are well-versed at finding areas that are prime for Allen to deliver them the ball. Teryl Austin’s crew better get things right Sunday.

The ‘X’ Factor: Each week I will select a player from each team who I believe will need to play above and beyond in order for his team to win.

X-Factor Steelers: Andrus Peat. The long-time veteran will get the start as Broderick Jones deals with a neck injury suffered last week in Chicago. Peat will be tasked with stopping Joey Bosa and Greg Rousseau and he has to prove he can handle it himself. If he needs help on a consistent basis from Darnell Washington or one of the running backs then that will limit some of the things that Arthur Smith wants to do. It’s a big day for Peat on Sunday.

X-Factor Bills: Joe Brady. I’m varying my approach by not choosing a player but instead a coordinator. Joe Brady does a great job running the Josh Allen-led offense but he often strays from the running game that is so damn good. As good as the reigning MVP is, he will turn the ball over and the Steelers – in a very bizarre way – need to force them to be one-dimensional. This will hopefully increase the Steelers’ chances of turning over the Bills. Brady therefore has to stay with his running game.

Prediction: I honestly don’t think of this Bills’ team as being as good as many people thought they would be. They struggle against the run and haven’t made the type of plays offensively we’ve seen in recent seasons. That said, this is still a good football team. They will take advantage of what the Steelers have struggled with and I don’t see the Steelers being able to overcome that. I don’t expect a blowout but I think the Bills have the Steelers’ number.

Bills 27 Steelers 20

Season Prediction Record: 5-6
