SCB Steelers Quick Hitters: The “Memorial Day 2020” Edition

by Steeldad

Good Monday to you Steelers’ fans.

Today of course is Memorial Day. Often thought of as the “official start to summer” or as that weekend to fill our pie holes with burgers, dogs and our favorite adult beverages. It is my sincere hope that all of us take a moment to reflect on why we have today. Our military folks are too often used for political gain these days and we’ll see no shortage of that hyperbole from many across our political spectrum but that is what it is I guess. Instead, take a moment to reflect on those who have given the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. There is a good chance we all know someone in the military or know someone whose loved one is serving America. Take time to reflect on them but remember those who came before and gave their lives so that we can have the freedoms we have and for most reading this, to have the ability to cheer for our Steelers. The current pandemic has hopefully made us realize how important the Steelers are to us and that we get that privilege from those we honor today.

Tweet of the Day… This is good. I didn’t watch a second of the match yesterday. Had it been a crappy weather day maybe but I was outside enjoying the sunshine and don’t regret missing this at all.

The Rookies

I haven’t spent a lot of time on this because I think it’s relatively “common sense,” but expectations for the rookies have to be low right now. This is simply because the Steelers’ coaching staff has not had the usual amount of time to work with and get to know these young men. Rookie camps would have been held by now and OTAs would be chugging along. With teams being forced to social distance, they’re all at the same disadvantage. Assuming Training Camp happens as usual for the players, evaluating rookies will become more important than ever and in an incredibly short amount of time.

More AB Nonsense

So now Russell Wilson is the latest to want former Steeler Antonio Brown to come play on his team. I’m not saying this can’t ultimately happen but it seems to me that people are forgetting he still has pending discipline coming from the NFL so we have no idea how soon he may be available.

Our Stuff
