Hey Steelers Fans! Welcome to Tuesday.
The Kickoff
If you thought the Pittsburgh Steelers were the only team with glaring problems then you’d be wrong. In fact, you really don’t have to look too far. Suddenly, both the Cincinnati Bengals and more surprising, the Baltimore Ravens, have some issues. You know about the Bengals. They are once again without Joe Burrow for the foreseeable future. In their first full game without him, they lost 48-10 to Minnesota. All things considered, the Bengals are still 2-1. The same cannot be said for Baltimore. despite scoring 104 points through their first three games, the Ravens find themselves 1-2. They let another huge lead slip away in the opener at Buffalo, pulled away late to whip the Browns and then last night, they got physically man-handled by Detroit. One of their biggest problems is Derrick Henry. The all-pro running back has fumbled in all three games and one could easily make the claim that without those fumbles, the Ravens would be 3-0. So while each team has different problems, we are not alone in Pittsburgh. Everyone seems to be battling something from within.
More From ‘Muth
Is it asking too much to get more production from Pat Freiermuth? Seriously, I’m asking this. My feeling is that his four-year $48 million deal isn’t being lived up to but I’m not sure its all on him. Through his first three games he has just seven receptions for 65 yards. He’s been target by Aaron Rodgers just ten times and has yet to find the end zone. The question is, is this all on him? My feelings are very simple. Muth is what he is and the team has recognized this albeit too late. He’s a decent blocker but he’s not going to make anyone fear him as a receiver. Meaning, he’s not going to get the kind of separation that’s often needed for a QB to look his way. I’m hopeful that things will start to pick up for him but I’m just not real sure about that.
Significant Jump For Cole
In week one, Cole Holcomb did not have a single snap on defense. In week two he had 13. In both of those games the Steelers gave up significant rushing yards to the Jets and Seahawks respectively. In week three however, Holcomb saw his snaps jump to 37. While the Patriots still eclipsed 100 yards rushing, Holcomb’s presence on early downs seemed to make a difference. The overall yards per carry was down and Holcomb even forced a fumble early in the game. It’s quite a story for a guy who missed an entire season and then some with a horrible leg injury. Here’s hoping he can continue on his current path.

The Ravens could be 3-0 or 2-1 but they aren’t. The Steelers could be 0-3 or 1-2 but they aren’t. That’s football in a nutshell… I won’t stay up to watch but I’m curious to see what Jimmy Kimmel has to say… I don’t know how we will look back on Calvin Austin III but I appreciate the young man. He’s worked hard and made himself a quality NFL player especially after missing his entire rookie season…We often spend a lot of time talking about Broderick Jones but Isaac Seumalo is not having a good season at left guard… Pretty shitty start to the season for officiating. Some of the missed calls – especially related to the Eagles’ games has been alarming… Hoping the ‘Tush Push’ is in its final stages too…
