Football season is back! While we only have a couple of weeks of college football under our belt, what better time to start thinking about the Steelers future, am I right? No, I’m not crazy, you’re crazy… So far it’s been a doozy and the only one that has had it worse than Arch Manning was ol’ cutoff hoodie himself, Bill Belichick. She must love him for his fashion sense and electric personality.
Like Jordan Hudson, the Steelers spent their offseason seeking out *ehem* veteran companionship. Aaron Rodgers, Darius Slay, and Jalen Ramsey to name a few. So obviously there will be a need for some youthful additions come the 2026 NFL Draft. Which is in Pittsburgh and will be full of fans hoping we can get (LaNorris Sellers) our next franchise quarterback, along with other positions needing some new blood.
With each of these stock reports, I’ll dive into a couple of players at positions of need for the Pittsburgh Steelers. We’ll look at weekly performances and my completely biased opinions on players who’s stock is on the rise and can help the Steelers, and those that I feel they need to steer clear of. At the end of the college football season I plan to have a final wrap up leading into draft prep. No, the NFL season never stops anymore.
Stock up:
LaNorris Sellers, QB, South Carolina
At the end of last season and during the offseason I have talked up LaNorris Sellers as my top QB prospect and the player I had hoped the Steelers would end up with. Unfortunately for us, he is living up to the hype and is now the favorite to be the first player selected in the 2026 Draft. At 6’3, 240 lbs. he has great size for the position. Despite being as big as he is however, he moves like a running back and is definitely a threat on the ground. Sellers has a big arm and can fit his throws into tight windows. He needs to improve his ability to read defenses but you cannot teach the physical traits he brings to the table.
Germie Bernard, WR, Alabama
Ryan Williams gets the most attention of the Crimson Tide’s wider receivers and rightfully so. He’s a dynamic player. However Germie Bernard is a heck of a player in his own right. He has great hands and although may not have the elite traits the Williams possesses, simply put he has a knack for getting open and knows the game of football. Maybe Alabama’s only bright spot against Florida State, Bernard had 8 receptions for 146 yards. Germie Bernard is Mr. Reliable and would be a great fit in Pittsburgh. He continued his hot streak against Louisiana-Munroe with a 3/67 and 2 touchdown stat line.
Stock Down:
Arch Manning, QB, Texas
Wow- who would have thought. Going into this season, Arch Manning was the consensus 1st pick in the 2026 NFL Draft should he declare. That’s definitely changed after his showing against Ohio State. Many will argue that Ohio State is a very good team with a strong defense. While this is true, these are the games where elite level quarterbacks step their game up and shine regardless. Manning did bounce back against the San Jose State Spartans, but again had a slow start. If he doesn’t turn things around in a big way, I think it’s a guarantee that he returns to school.
Hopefully I’ll be able to update these weekly and get more in depth as the college football season progresses. Keep in mind that a player can at any time put together a string of games that can cause their draft stock to rise or fall. There are a lot of exciting prospects this year and the 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh will end up being the deepest in some time.
