Hey Steelers Fans. Welcome to Friday
The Kickoff
Super Bowl LX kicks off on Sunday and I often think back to my youth each year at this time. I’ve always been a bit “different” in my approach to football when it comes to watching games. For instance, when I was in my later elementary and middle school years I always sat with the parents at our high school games because I wanted to watch the game. My buddies were chasing girls around giving each other wet willies but that stuff never appealed to me. I still prefer to be largely by myself when I watch games which I suppose comes off as arrogant. I’m not the smartest football guy in the world but I cannot stand the constant chatter of others while I’m watching a game. Now if I’m at a game? That’s different. I accept that the environment is extremely unique so I embrace it. Largely however, if I’m home watching the game? Just leave me the heck alone! I’ll enjoy the game on Sunday with a few people in the family and that’s it. Whatever your Super Bowl viewing preference is, enjoy it! It’s a long Offseason!
The Latest Podcast
Episode 459 of the SCB Steelers Podcast presented by DEK Roofing Inc is available! Last night’s show featured discussions on new coaching staff members, some personnel thoughts, Super bowl predictions and more!
My Favorite Coaching Hire
Now that I’ve fully embraced the Mike McCarthy era in Pittsburgh (that doesn’t mean I like it) I’m starting to come around on some of these new coaches he’s brought in. While I’m excited to see what Brian Angelichio can bring to the offense and what Patrick Graham can do with the defense, I’m most excited to see what Jahri Evans can do with this offensive line. Granted, he’s an assistant OL Coach but he will walk into that facility garnering instant respect from his players. While there’s no guarantee that a Hall of Fame level player is going to be a great coach, I feel really good about Evans. This offense needs a guy who has been there. A guy who was technically strong and physically a mauler. This unit desperately needs a return to those days.
The Wait Continues
While people across the sports spectrum complain about Bill Belichick not getting into the Hall of Fame, a larger travesty continues for us in the Black and Gold. Once again, L.C. Greenwood did not gain entry into the Hall. A four-time Super Bowl Champion… A Two-time All-Pro… A Six-time Pro Bowler… and a member of the 1970’s All-Decade Team, yet Greenwood still can’t get in. He has numbers that are superior to guys already in the Hall like Buck Buchanon of the Chiefs for example. Is there still a bias towards the Steelers who already have “too many guys in” from the 1970’s? Maybe, but that’s a shame. Greenwood is more than deserving and I hope it happens sooner rather than later.
The Future of Watt
We discussed this a bit on the podcast last night and like many, we are curious about the future of T.J. Watt. After getting a big boost in salary, Watt’s 2025 season was arguably his worst as a pro. It was made worse by the partial collapse of his lung during a treatment session. He’s been dead silent since the season ended and has still made no comment regarding the departure of Mike Tomlin and the arrival of Mike McCarthy. I’m optimistic that he’s enjoying his family and will be back to his old self again in 2026 but I’m also realistic too. In other words, I’m just not sure what to expect.

Remember all of the praise heaped upon Philip Rivers when he played the AFC Title game with a torn ACL? I hope everyone keeps that same energy for Lindsey Vonn. The Olympic Downhill skier will compete with a torn ACL of her own… The head football coach at Montana resigned this week. He largely cited the ridiculous landscape that college football has become as his reason for leaving. Can’t say I blame you coach. It’s a complete train wreck… With these two quarterbacks in the Super Bowl, I’m expecting multiple turnovers. I acknowledge that Sam Darnold has been good in the postseason but it feels like he’s due for a stinker. Drake Maye will make mistakes but I think he will do some things with his legs. Our miserable Steelers’ season continues as the Pats get Number Seven 19-16.
