It used to be kind of cute didn’t it? The way Jacksonville would play a regular season game in London each season… They were the Jaguars after all and if they couldn’t sell tickets in their home stadium in Northeast Florida then they sure as heck could in the U.K. But then another game was added and then another and here we are in 2026 and what does this year bring? More international games! From Brazil and France to Ireland and Germany, the NFL is truly a global enterprise with zero consideration of their players or fans.
Green Bay right tackle Zach Tom summed up the way many players feel about playing overseas.
Former NFL Offensive lineman Tyler Polumbus also chimed in on his feelings about playing International games.
Hotels, bars, restaurants, ride-sharing services all miss out on making money opportunities. Why? Because the league has determined that it’s more important to cater to fans in faraway lands than it is to their own right here. Roger Goodell and his cronies have also decided that the “player safety” they preached so much about doesn’t matter either. There is nothing good (or safe) about a team playing a game in Australia then hoping on a plane for a 20-hour flight home.
Do I understand that there are many fans of the NFL in Europe and beyond? Absolutely I do, but until the English Premier League starts playing regular season fixtures in America, the NFL shouldn’t be doing what it is. I realize we aren’t putting the toothpaste back into the tube here but if people like myself don’t help protect players and fans then it will only get worse. And what does “worse” look like?
How about the Super Bowl in London?
