Another week of college football action is in the books! The Steelers just took an ‘L’ from a very sloppy performance against the Seattle Seahawks and if they don’t get a lot of things tightened up quick this season could be ugly. Bad for fans, good for draft position! That being said, let’s take a look at what I saw in this week’s college game action.
Stock up
John Mateer, QB, Oklahoma
Wow! Talk about coming out of nowhere! Prior to the season, Mateer wasn’t mentioned in the same tier as Arch Manning, Cade Klubnik, and Garrett Nussmeier. After a few big performances the tables have turned and now Mateer is among the favorites to win the Heisman Trophy award. Playing at Oklahoma and being roughly the same size, it’s easy to see the comparisons to Baker Mayfield whom the Browns drafted at #1 overall. If Mateer continues to play at this level, he will have improved his draft stock tremendously and may go in the top 10.
Chris Brazzell, WR, Tennessee
Despite being a large receiver standing at 6’5 Brazzell wasn’t given a ton of love leading up to the 2026 season. However he has produced big time, including a monster performance in a loss against Georgia. In addition to his size Brazzell has good hands and moves VERY well for his size. He’ll be someone the Steelers should keep an eye on.
Stock… the same
LaNorris Sellers, QB, South Carolina
Sellers took a shot to the head in the game against Vanderbuilt and was unable to return (the player that delivered the hit was ejected for targeting.) Prior to that he was 6/7 for 94 yards and an interception. Sellers has a crazy physical skillset and should bounce back upon his return, so as of right now I don’t think scouts are viewing him any differently.
Stock down
Nico Iamaleava, QB, UCLA
Once considered a 5-star recruit battling against Arch Manning to be the top QB in the nation, Nico’s draft stock is now plummeting. After demanding more money from Tennessee in the offseason, he ultimately ended up at UCLA for less NIL money than the Vols offered. Nico’s play has been terrible this season and the Bruins are 0-3. Yikes.
Rod Moore, Safety, Michigan
Rod Moore was once considered one of the top safety prospects in the nation. He tore his ACL in Spring practice 2024 and hasn’t played since, which- fair or not- has hindered the way he’s viewed by NFL Scouts. One of Moore’s strengths was his considerable speed and ability to get sideline to sideline. Hopefully he will return soon and we will see how the injury has impacted his speed, if at all. As of now considering the length of time it has taken him to return he’ll have that injury red flag. Moore will have to prove his ability to stay healthy and perform at the same level as before.
Stock doesn’t matter- return to school!
Arch Manning, QB, Texas
Manning has strung together a couple of wins since the loss to Ohio State and has displayed his athleticism with his ability to run. His footwork and mechanics are still off and he does not currently look like an NFL caliber quarterback. Even though it is still early in the season, I believe it is all but guaranteed that he will be returning to school next season. If he were to declare for the 2026 draft, at best he’d go in the 4th round and that is mostly due to his name. Manning will return to school and look to gain back some of the momentum he’s lost this season.
