SCB Steelers Training Camp Tidbits Day Seventeen

by Steeldad

Welcome to the new Steel City Blitz Steelers Training Camp Tidbits presented by Taps N’At! This is a brand new feature this year and every single day from now until the end of Camp you’ll see tidbits right here. Our goal is simple; provide you with everything we are seeing, hearing and learning from St. Vincent College in Latrobe.

If you’re going….

Steelers Practice for Saturday 8/11: 255pm Eastern

Latrobe Weather for Saturday 8/11: Scattered T-Storms High of 78

Latest on the injury front… All eyes will be on the fields of St. Vincent College scanning for a certain number 84. Mike Tomlin told us last week that Antonio Brown would return to practice following the Eagles’ game. We are all very much anticipating his arrival. Damoun Patterson, who had an excellent game Thursday night, left in the fourth quarter with what was thought to be a non-serious injury. B.J. Finney also departed the game on Thursday as well but should be fine.

What should you be looking for today? Don’t be shocked if you see and hear a lot more about tackling today. While I think overall it was better, it was not where it needs to be. Morgan Burnett, Jon Bostic and Artie Burns for example all missed tackles and they were far from alone… Keep a very close eye on the inside linebacking positions. While it doesn’t mean a ton as to who is running with the first team and who isn’t, it’s still worth watching after a very sub-par performance Thursday night… Same could be said for the wideouts. At some point, Patterson has to get a shot at running with the ones.

Really good show last night breaking things down from the win over the Eagles… Check out the Steel City Blitz Steelers Podcast presented by 26shirts.com/Pittsburgh.

After today, there are just three more open practices for fans to attend in Latrobe. If you were planning to go you’re running out of time!

Make sure you stop into our terrific sponsor Taps N’At! They are just a few minutes from Camp and have good food, cold beer and a great atmosphere!
