Good Tuesday to you Steelers’ Fans!
Talk about some good news! The Steelers formally announced yesterday that Stephon Tuitt did indeed injury his upper arm but thankfully it was not the torn biceps originally feared. As of right now it looks like something that will nag Tuitt but he should be able to play a heck of a lot sooner than most thought. He was off to a blazing start in the first quarter Sunday before leaving with the injury. Tuitt at 80% is more than acceptable to me and I’m glad he’s able to get back rather than being on the shelf all season.
There was a lot of social media reaction to the Minnesota Vikings (the Steelers’ opponents next Sunday) and their strong performance last evening. A word or two of wisdom here…. There’s an old saying that says “Monday night’s winners are Sunday’s losers.” That is in regard to the short week that teams face especially when they have to go the road. To further the point, the Steelers typically play much better at home. In conclusion, the way a team looks one week doesn’t always mean anything the next.
Did you happen to see the stadiums in San Francisco and Los Angeles in the second half of those respective games Sunday? You could have dropped whales from the sky and they wouldn’t have hit anyone in the stands. I have no idea why the NFL felt one team, let alone two in LA would work. As far as the Niners go, that’s a proud franchise and it’s pathetic to see that there. Especially in a new stadium.

I’ve heard players like Larry Fitzgerald repeatedly say that they’d rather take a shot to the head than to the knees. The reason being of course is that a concussion might knock you out a week whereas a blown knee costs you a season. In week one of the NFL season, I can’t tell you how many helmet to helmet hits I saw but there were a lot. Then factor in the hit this preseason on Odell Beckham, Jr which was very low and what you’ll eventually have is a rule that limits both high hits and low. In other words, just get the flags out already.
Great quote from Ryan Shazier to steelers.com’s Missi Matthews about whether T.J. Watt’s motor ever turns off. Shazier said, ” I don’t think the whole family ever turns off their motor.”
James Harrison had four snaps on Defense Sunday. No way anyone saw that coming.
Bob Labriola of steelers.com was asked why the Steelers’ captains don’t wear the ‘C’ patch like other teams. He answered that the Steelers already have a patch and this year they have included the ‘DMR’ memorial patch as well so they don’t want to look like ‘NASCAR.’ I thought it was a perfect explanation but I’ll take it one step further. The ‘C’ patch is stupid. That is unique to hockey so leave it that way!
