SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Out of Patience” Edition

Good day to you Steelers’ Fans!

Everyone has a limit. Even when there is an unwritten rule, people can still reach a point where they’ve had enough. Yesterday on the South Side, several Steelers saw their patience come to an abrupt end. Ramon Foster, Maurkice Pouncey and David DeCastro all punched through the unwritten law about not discussing a teammate’s contractual situation with softness of a sledgehammer.

There are many who have taken this trio to task for airing these things to the media and I understand this but people need to see the devil in the details. Why did they speak now? What did they have to gain? What was the motivation? What was their intention? Think about those things before we judge too much. And consider who we’re talking about here too. A union rep and two all-pro players.

We had another great episode of the Steel City Blitz Stelers Podcast presented by 26shirts.com/Pittsburgh. Jared Luginbill, former editor of Browns101 dropped by to discuss the season opener. The second half of the show was spent on Bell and and our predictions for Sunday.

TWEET OF THE YEAR… From the great Ramon Foster.

For now, I’m done talking about a guy who won’t even be in the building on Sunday. Time to focus on the Browns. One of the big match-ups I see is the Steelers front seven versus the Browns’ O-Line. They literally have one tackle and a bunch of guards trying to piece together an offensive line. If the likes of Cam Heyward and Stephon Tuitt can’t cause problems then we could be in trouble.

Obviously I can’t predict the outcome of the game but the one word I don’t want to hear on Monday morning is “rust.” From Ben Roethlisberger to Antonio Brown to T.J. Watt. Many have played very few, if any, meaningful snaps in quite some time. If they don’t play well I don’t want to hear a damn thing about ‘rust.’

Ben made a great point last night on the podcast about James Conner. Not only is he a different kind of player than Bell but he’s a very different running back as well. He’s what we call a “one cut” guy because his typical move is to make one cut before or in the hole and move forward. You know how Bell runs and these styles are also very different if you’re an offensive lineman blocking too.

Latest on the injury front… STEELERS – Vance McDonald, Foot, Limited. BROWNS – LB Genard Avery (Glute) – Limited, LB James Burgess (Concussion) – DNP, DT Trevon Coley (Ankle) – Limited, TE Seth DeValve (Quad) – Limited, DB E.J. Gaines (Knee) – DNP, WR Josh Gordon (Hamstring) – Limited, T Desmond Harrison (Knee) – Limited, DB Damarious Randall (Knee)- Full (injury report courtesy steelers.com)

Have a great day Steeler Nation!

It’s not rust it’s using the first few games as preseason. That’s how they roll but i am pretty sure guys like Rodgers,Brady, Carr and Brees do it a bit different.
