SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Hall of Honor Day” Edition

Good Tuesday to you Steelers’ Fans!

At 10am Eastern Steelers’ President Art Rooney II is scheduled to announce the inaugural class for the team’s new “Hall of Honor.” It is expected that all former Steelers who are already in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and those who have a minimum of three years with the team are eligible. So yes, this will be a monstrous class and there was really no other way to do it. A lot of very important players would have been left off otherwise.

Keep in mind, other than flags that fly high above Heinz Field on the end opposite the river, the team does not openly display its Super Bowl history inside the field. While it does inside the “Great Hall,” the team has often kept its success out of the public view. That’s not by mistake and also what makes the announcement of the “Hall of Honor” so special. The Steelers appreciate their successes but don’t gloat over them. Unlike certain other teams…

It’s very possible the Steelers could have some cuts coming prior to the finale against Carolina. Keep an eye on that and….  Before you say something mean and stupid on social media remember that these guys all worked their asses off. It isn’t a pleasant feeling to be cut.

Tweet of the Day… Get a chance to talk to 7!

A young man named Carlos spent some time writing here at SCB before turning his full attention to his studies. He lives in Houston and I’m glad to report he and his family are safe. He tells me they had to travel about eight blocks in shoulder deep water while keeping the young children safe in a kayak. Unreal.

Tomorrow night I’ll be joined by Ian as he breaks down the WPIAL in a way no one else can. That’s on the Steel City Blitz Podcast Presented by 26shirts.com/Pittsburgh. You check out all of his previews under the WPIAL category tab on the homepage!

Matthew Stafford is now the highest paid player in pro football. Yes, you read that correctly. $92 million guaranteed and $27 million per season. Did these teams learn nothing from Joe Flacco’s ridiculous contract? Stafford is a nice QB but I can think of at least 10 players right now I’d rather give that money to.

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
