SCB Steelers Quick Hitters: The “Five To Go” Edition

Good Tuesday to you Steelers fans.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have five games remaining in the 2021 season. At Minnesota this Thursday, home with Tennessee, at Kansas City, Cleveland and home and at Baltimore in the finale. It’s widely believed they’ll need to win four of the final five to ensure a postseason berth but I’m going to suggest winning three of five will do it. That would get them to 9-7-1. A win over the Vikings would be huge especially with the players getting a couple of days off before the Titans roll in but the days off will be important either way. The only game I feel confident that they will lose is the game in Kansas City. The Chiefs are playing as well as they have all year and while nothing would surprise me I don’t see us winning in Arrowhead. What really scares me is the final game. I have a strong feeling that game will be the one that either gets us into the postseason or keeps us out. We can certainly win there, we have before, but I don’t think any of us need that heart attack do we?

Tweet of the day… Jones was 2 for 3 last night in the win over Buffalo.

Leglue

It isn’t often that a guy who is essentially your number five guard finds his way into my column but John Leglue deserves it. B.J. Finney was already filling in for Kevin Dotson when he left early Sunday with a back injury. With Joe Haeg unavailable, Leglue got the call. While he isn’t the second coming of Alan Faneca, he did a respectable job and frankly he wasn’t a liability. Anytime a guy like this steps up it makes life much easier as a coach and fellow player. Kudos to Leglue.

On JuJu

On the field, the last time we saw JuJu Smith-Schuster was week five against Denver. It was in that game that he suffered his season-ending injury. Off the field however, JuJu hasn’t exactly been invisible. He’s shown up to practice and has made his way on to the sidelines one gameday accompanied by his usual smile. I mention this because in many ways, it’s unusual to see a guy who is out for the season this visible. Add to that, especially one that will be a free agent and could be anywhere next year. Personally, I think it’s great to see him this often. I think it speaks to the type of person and teammate he is.

Pro Bowl

Voting for the 2022 NFL Pro Bowl is now underway. You can vote for all of your favorite Steelers by clicking this link right here. I’m of the opinion that Chris Boswell, Cam Heyward, Diontae Johnson and T.J. Watt should 100% be on their way to this game.
