SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Cue Alice Cooper” Edition

Good Thursday to you Steelers’ Fans!

Today is the last day of the Steelers’ ‘mandatory’ mini-camp. When it’s over, the parking lot will probably resemble a Formula One race as the players fly out of there and head off to numerous destinations to enjoy their final few weeks of freedom before Training Camp begins July 25th. I can relate to this feeling. Today is my last day of school and I have a very simple tradition. When the kids depart I play Alice Cooper’s “School’s Out” so therefore, it only seems appropriate to provide you with this.

Great show last night on the Steel City Blitz Steelers Podcast presented by 26shirts.com/Pittsburgh. Ben and Ian joined me to discuss everything from Antonio Brown, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Le’Veon Bell allegedly lowering his contract demands. Tonight we’ll be doing our World Cup Preview filled with predictions so check out a bunch of football guys trying to talk about futbol.

Tweet of the Day… Future Hall of Famer Alan Faneca chimes in on Zach Martin’s new contract in Dallas which pays him $14 million per season.

Think about that for a second. The Steelers could pay Bell $14.5 million per season but an offensive guard could make just $500,000 less. Never would have imagined this years ago. David DeCastro is now a ‘bargain’ at $10 million.

Only Cnic could come up with something that pulls the Steelers and Fortnite together. Check this out!

The issue of tackling came up yesterday at Steelers’ Mini-Camp and the guy discussing it was not exactly thrilled to be talking about it. Defensive Coordinator Keith Butler is now on record. He wants more tackling in practice. That of course is limited by the collective bargaining agreement but when the opportunity is there, Butler wants guys improving and what he clearly believes is a lost art. If you put the pieces together, you’ll see that Mike Tomlin brought in two guys from the collegiate ranks that should help with this problem. Secondary Coach Tom Bradley is a stickler for the fundamentals and Defensive Line Coach Karl Dunbar is a guy who will help in this area as well. Factor in the absence of the poor tackling Mike Mitchell and the addition of sound tackling Morgan Burnett and Jon Bostic and things should be better. Proof will be in the pudding however.

Have a great Thursday Steeler Nation!
