SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Beating a Dead Horse” Edition

Made it to Wednesday Steelers’ Fans!

Let me start by asking you a question. You can feel free to answer in the comments section or not answer at all but in light of the way overblown Ben Roethlisberger comments this week I feel it’s a worthwhile question. Do you prefer that your starting Quarterback be a “really great guy” but struggle to win big games or would you prefer to have QB that isn’t the nicest guy in the world but wins big games and championships? Sorry, there’s no “why can’t I have both?” in this situation. This is what the discussion has evolved into and ya, I think it’s pretty darn stupid and a waste of time myself. This really has become the epitome of “beating a dead horse.”

Tweet of the Day #1… This is really well said and accurate.

I’ve seen this exact thing many times at camp. Player comes to fence… Signs 300+ autographs… One person he doesn’t get to bitches and goes on a rant about how awful he is. If I’ve seen it once I’ve seen a hundred times.

Rookie Mini-Camp begins this Friday. All draftees, undrafted rookie free agents and selected “tryouts’ will participate. I’ll have more on this on Friday.

Tweet of the Day #2… This is how stupid this has become. Apparently we care what a kid thought when he was in sixth grade.

Really excited for tonight’s Steel City Blitz Steelers Podcast presented by 26shirts.com/Pittsburgh. Former NFL and Purdue University Quarterback Jim Everett is going to join us. He’s going to provide us with some insight as to just how a veteran quarterback is supposed to deal with a rookie who is thought to be his replacement.

From Uncle Ed’s Chat over at post-gazette.com.

ALB: Ed, what are the biggest differences about covering an NFL team now compared to when you started?
Ed Bouchette: Access. We had much more of it 20 and 30 years ago

I have to say this is really kind of surprising. I would have thought these guys were more accessible but I guess there’s a point here. We think that because of how much access they provide us through their social media, etc.

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
