SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Steel My Valentine” Edition

Happy Wednesday and Happy Valentine’s Day to you Steelers’ Fans!

In light of the holiday (which you may either loathe or love), I figured it was time for me to hand out some Valentines to some very deserving Pittsburgh Steelers. I can still picture this process back in my elementary school days and in light of the current social mood of the nation, I can’t help but wonder if this tradition still exists. No matter though because I know some guys who wear the Black and Gold who are more than deserving of a little love today. Enjoy this special edition of Quick Hitters.

A Valentine for…

you Vince Williams. You play with passion and emotion and your tweets are the best of anyone in the locker room.

you Antonio Brown. Just keep doing what you do.

you JuJu Smith-Schuster. Despite all of your amazing plays in your rookie season, laying out Vontaze Burfict was the gift that keeps on giving. #Karma

you Ben Roethlisberger. Wait. You already got yours when Todd Haley left.

you Keith Butler because last time we saw you, you looked like you could really use one.

you Chris Boswell. Your consistency keeps our hearts from fluttering.

you Cam Heyward because your production and effort are what being a Steeler is all about.

you Mike Mitchell. Simply because I think if anyone needs something nice it’s you.

Mike Tomlin. Inside of your valentine is everything you need to know about accountability, responsibility and game-planning.

Tweet of the Day… Former Steeler Nolan Harrison chimes in and I agree.

According to the NFL, the Steelers’ strength of schedule for 2018 ranks 25th toughest. Here’s why this means little to me. When you looked at the schedule ahead of 2017, you had “wins” circled against Chicago and Jacksonville right? You may have had at least one loss circled against both the Bengals and Ravens too and probably at Kansas City as well. My point? I don’t care how good or bad a team was the season before, teams will change over the offseason and will be better or worse than the year before. Thus there is very little intrigue over who the Steelers will play in 2018 as it relates to “difficulty.”

Post-Gazette’s Ray Fittapaldo published his 7-round mock draft yesterday with Alabama’s Rashaan Evans being the Steelers’ first pick. He’s been a very popular selection for people doing mocks but again, the fact that he’s from Alabama is a deterrent. Pittsburgh just doesn’t draft guys from there. Maybe this is the year it changes?

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
