SCB Steelers Quick Hitters for September 23rd, 2014

by Steeldad

The Steelers do not practice today as this is the players official off day. Mike Tomlin press conference will be held at Noon ET.

-Former linebacker James Harrison is visiting with team today and I expect he will sign. Why else would they bring him in if they are’t going to sign him? My thoughts on his return are right here.

-Here’s the latest on the injury front; Jarvis Jones will undergo surgery for his dislocated wrist. He was put on IR-designated to return and is expected to miss eight weeks… Ike Taylor has a broken forearm but could miss just six weeks… Ryan Shazier has an MCL sprain and will miss this week’s game but could return for the next.

-The Steelers are now 5-1 all-time against Carolina.

-Mike Tomlin by the numbers… He is now 31-27 on the road lifetime as the HC of the Steelers. His record when leading at halftime improved to 55-9.

-The Steelers are 52-6 when Ben Roethlisberger has a passer rating of 100 or better.

-Antonio Brown passed Santonio Holmes for 11th all-time on the Steelers’ receiving yardage list.

-Le’Veon Bell became the first Steeler (Mike Wallace) since 2011 to gain over 100 yards from scrimmage in their first three games.

-Shaun Suisham nailed his 23rd consecutive filed goal to break the tie he had with Jeff Reed.

-The Buccaneers come to town Sunday and the Steelers will see some real similarities. At this point last year, the Steelers were also 0-3 and facing tough challenge as they played Minnesota in London. Mike Tomlin shouldn’t have to remind his players of this but I believe he will. Tampa Bay will come in with great fire this weekend.
