SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “One Extra Day” Edition

Good Thursday to you Steelers’ Fans!

With the Black and Gold playing on Monday this coming week I can’t help but wonder if that’s a positive or a negative. The positive side is easy; at this point in the season you take every extra moment you get to heal your body. On the flip side is this argument; after a loss like the one suffered Sunday, isn’t it better to just get out on the field and play? I can understand arguments from either side but in this case, the Steelers are forced to take the extra day. Either way, I think we should all expect the Texans’ best effort and we all should still expect a solid Steelers’ win. After all, there is much to still to play for.

I highly encourage you to listen to the Steel City Blitz Podcast presented by 26shirts.com/Pittsburgh. We recorded last night and it’s one of our better shows simply because of the material we were dealing with unfortunately.

First injury report will be out later today and there will certainly be some things to look forward. With Antonio Brown already out, Vance McDonald’s availability becomes a big factor. Ramon Foster is in concussion protocol but I have major faith in B.J. Finney. When he starts, Le’Veon Bell usually has a huge day running the football.

This is my thought on the things that happened Sunday in the final minute. There is blame to be placed on Todd Haley, Mike Tomlin and Ben Roethlisberger for not having more organization. These are all highly experienced people who should have been on the same page and were not.

Tweet of the Day… Will Allen and company doing good stuff.

Why don’t things like this get more attention from the NFL? Might be nice to hear about the good things the players do once in awhile rather than all of the bad things. Just a thought.

Ian breaks down the Texans’ and Browns’ offenses and what they could hold for the Steelers in the final two weeks.

Marcus Gilbert returns from his four-game suspension this week. Major, major kudos to Chris Hubbard who not only played well in Gilbert’s absence. I think it’s highly likely that Hubbard may have played himself into a bigger contract elsewhere.

This is a response from Uncle Gerry Dulac of the Post-Gazette during his chat. “I think most coaches over-think what’s going at times. They’re all trying to outfox the other guy. But it’s easy for us to criticize…” I’ve been saying this for a LONG time about Todd Haley. It should never be about proving you’re the smartest guy on the field. It should be about dong what you need to do to win the damn game.

Have a great Thursday Steeler Nation!
