SCB Steelers Quick Hitters for July 7th, 2015

by Steeldad

There are just 18 days left until the Steelers report to St.Vincent College in Latrobe, PA to begin their 50th Training Camp there.

Speaking of Camp, I want to make sure I get this out there if other bloggers are reading this. In recent years, the Steelers and their PR department headed by Burt Lauten have tried to be as flexible as possible when allowing writers and bloggers field access for camp. Last season, someone lied their way into access by claiming to represent an entity that had never heard of them. Being granted that access is a privilege; don’t ruin it by being an idiot for your own personal gain.

One final note on Camp, we’ll be starting our Training Camp Battle Reports today starting with the QBs.

If you get a chance, read this article written by former Titan and Redskin Albert Haynesworth. It’s an eye-opener.

Tweet of the day from Da Beard.

Catch up with the latest from new SCB writers Ben Anderson on Brett Keisel and Mike Walsh on Jerome Bettis as well as this one from Carlos  on the Steelers playing down to their competition.

I’m guessing you saw that Art Rooney II and the Steelers have submitted their interest in hosting the Super Bowl in 2023. I’m not crazy about it and you can read why here.

Good stuff from our friend Neal Coolong from USA Today on what the Bengals’ Defensive Coordinator thinks of the Steelers’ offense.

I have to say I’m starting to think Le’Veon Bell won’t see his three-game suspension reduced at all. The biggest reason could simply be timing. Regardless of the way Tom Brady’s appeal goes, I think the attention paid to it will hurt other players and Bell is one of them.

Don’t be surprised to hear all kinds of great things about the Ravens for 2015. MMQB’s Peter King already ranked them number one in his power rankings and other NFL scribes are already on their bandwagon. There are two reasons why; because they nearly beat the Pats in the AFC Playoffs last year and because Ozzie Newsome is so good in the draft. Both are valid but as always, this is a new year and everyone is on the same level in July.

Have a great Tuesday and Go Steelers!
