SCB Steelers Quick Hitters for August 18th, 2015

by Steeldad

It’s Tuesday so that means the Steelers are off today.

Stephon Tuitt was out yesterday but Steelers’ Head Coach Mike Tomlin said it’s a minor thing and he should return on Wednesday. The D-Line cannot afford to lose him so let’s breathe easy.

The Trib’s Mark Kaboly spoke to Tajh Boyd briefly and it sounds like he’s pretty frustrated and I don’t blame him. “I don’t know how many opportunities I’m going to get. So, I have to make the most of it. At this point, you’re fighting for a roster spot anywhere. Obviously, I would like for it to be here.”

[UPDATE:] Tajh Boyd has been released by the Steelers. WR Jarrod West of Syracuse has been signed.

Alejandro Villanueva has obviously been a great story and I join the the thousands who would love to see him make this roster. That said, he took a step back Friday night in Jacksonville in my opinion though. As good as he can look at times, he isn’t going to get the swing tackle spot ahead of Mike Adams just yet.

ICYMI: Articles from this week here at SCB… Scouts are watching the Steelers’ Secondary… Carlos had some thoughts on Martavis BryantSpecial Teams aren’t so “special” right now.

I don’t know where Ian Wild fits on the Steelers roster and I’m not sure he goes anywhere other than the practice squad but he’s been having a good camp. He even played some inside linebacker this week and put some good licks on guys according to several people at camp.

I’ll be going solo tonight on The Blitz Podcast sponsored BodyTech Gym in North Hills. You can listen live and comment at rabble.tv.

Fans need to take a breath when it comes to the Steelers’ defense. It’s young and the defense is new. This isn’t Dick LeBeau’s base 3-4 they are doing people. Don’t forget also that in the preseason, teams don’t plan for their opponents. They are trying to see what works best for them. Please stop with the “Butler and the defense suck” stuff.

Tweet of the Day from Martavis Bryant….

When the Steelers take the field Sunday against the Packers it will be the first time they’ve faced Aaron Rodgers since Super Bowl XLV. When the two teams played each other in Green Bay a couple of seasons ago, Rodgers was injured.

Aren’t you glad I reminded you of SB XLV??? Ugh.

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
