SCB Steelers Quick Hitters for 1/14/16

by Steeldad

The Steelers will practice today from 1-3pm ET.

Practice Report from Wednesday: PIT Ben Roethlisberger (shoulder), Antonio Brown (concussion), DeAngelo Williams (foot), Ryan Shazier (knee), Cam Heyward (back) Did Not Practice… DEN Brock Osweiler (knee), Von Miller (illness) Did Not Practice

I still contend we’ll see both Big Ben and AB playing on Sunday but we’ll have a much better idea over the next 24 hours. I do not expect Williams to suit up.

As you know by now, the Cleveland Browns have hired Hue Jackson to be their next head coach. I think he has the ability to make them respectable if he’s allowed enough say in the players (offensively especially) he has on the roster. I thought he deserved another year when he went 8-8 in Oakland. The really good news about this for Steelers’ fans is that Cincinnati is again looking for another offensive coordinator.

There was a late update by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler that said Brown had told one teammate he was still having some headaches but thought he’d be OK by Sunday. Let’s hope so.

SCB writers Chris and Ben offered two very different pieces over the last 24 hours. Chris is looking ahead to Denver while Ben took a look at what was “allegedly” heard on the field late in the Bengals’ game.

Tweet of the Day… Not sure there’s a finer young man than this guy.

There’s been a lot of questions about ESPN’s reporting of the injuries of Ben and AB and I can tell you this much based upon what I’ve been told from two reliable sources; don’t believe everything ESPN says.

Am I crazy to think that Michael Vick might fare better against Denver than Landry Jones if Ben Roethlisberger can’t play?

The biggest reason why Keith Butler has to be aggressive against Peyton Manning might have to do with the fact that Manning is brutal in the divisional round of the playoffs according to past history. By staying aggressive and possibly frustrating Manning early can lead to turnovers and poor decisions.

Look for my Divisional Game Preview coming up tomorrow!

Have great Thursday Steelers’ Nation!
