SCB Steelers Quick Hitters for 11/4/15

by Steeldad

The Steelers will practice today from 115-315pm ET today.

Not surprisingly, the Steelers saw the trade deadline come and go without any action. I thought perhaps they’d try to move Brandon Boykin but they stood pat.

Matt and I knocked out The Blitz Podcast last night. You check it out right here.

If I told you that an NFL team would be without a starting running back for two games, a starting wide receiver for four, it’s all-pro quarterback for four games and would lose the same running back for the season with eight games remaining what would you think their record would be? Don’t forget that said team was also without a starting safety for three games and a stud defensive lineman for several games as well. In the grand scheme of things, 4-4 doesn’t look so bad.

Tweet of the Day from an all-time classic…

I have a lot of faith in DeAngelo Williams replacing Le’Veon Bell; he’s proven he can be an effective back. But let’s be real too. He’s going to need an able back-up to spell him at times. Whoever that turns out to be is fine, but someone needs to step up.

Have to give Keith Butler credit for recognizing the liability that Cam Thomas is. In the base defense Sunday, Dan McCullers played nose and Steve McLendon kicked out to end. I still need to watch the tape and see how well it worked but I like the fact that Butler at least recognized what wasn’t working.

One thing the Steelers struggled with Sunday was penalties. Ironically, they entered the game as the least penalized team in the NFL according to NFL.com.

I really can’t say that Vontaze Burfict tried to injure Bell on purpose and I also can’t say definitively that he “celebrated” the injury either. What I can do is look at the past of this player and it’s riddled with questionable behavior on and off the field. Therefore, are these things possible? Absolutely.

I want badly to believe that Ben Roethlisberger will bounce back this Sunday but it will all depend on how much he can trust that left leg. I thought he favored it on many throws which resulted in some poor throws.

Isn’t it nice to be in this string of 1pm games?

Have a great day Steelers Nation!
