SCB Steelers Quick Hitters for 11/13/15

by Steeldad

Happy Friday the 13th everyone…

The Steelers will practice today from 1045-1230pm.

Latest Injury News: Matt Spaeth, Ryan Shazier, James Harrison and Shamarko Thomas are all dealing with knee issues and have not practiced this week. At this point, all have been ruled out for Sunday with possible exception of Thomas.

Ed Bouchette of the Post-Gazette thinks Ben Roethlisberger will play on Sunday. He’s certainly closer to the situation than I am but I’m not sure. Mike Tomlin has two ways of looking at this; play him knowing he has a week off coming or sit him and give him the extra week of rest.

I am to the point where I don’t have any problem with people who call Ryan Shazier ‘soft’ or ‘injury-prone.’ He has missed too many games with too many injuries to be defended at this point. Great player but that doesn’t help when he isn’t on the field.

Chris wrote a very timely and important article today on the importance of not over-looking Cleveland.

Here’s the link to our podcast from last night. Hope you like deep voices because I went solo.

Tweet of the Day… Good stuff from DeAngelo Williams and his “curtain call.”

The Steelers woke up this morning tied with NY Jets and Buffalo Bills at 5-4 in the AFC Wild-Card race. The Steelers would be left out of the playoffs right now based on the second tie-breaker which is conference record. The Steelers do not play the Jets or Bills so they are out in the cold as of right now.

The Browns rank at the bottom defensively and are dead last against the run. Regardless of who is playing quarterback, Todd Haley and Mike Munchak need to take advantage of that and run the football. That said, they should allow that to set up the play-action passing game.

Have a great weekend Steelers’ Nation!
