SCB Steelers Quick Hitters for 10/21/15

by Steeldad

The Steelers will practice today from 115pm to 315pm Eastern.

As of right now, Head Coach Mike Tomlin is moving ahead with plans to start Landry Jones on Sunday in Kansas City. Today will be a big day for Ben Roethlisberger who returns to practice. If he can go all week then he could start. Right now, betting money is on Jones.

We at SCB are so honored to be working with Cameron Heyward’s Fan Club. We are following the lead of Cam who has been writing his father’s nickname “Iron Head” on his eye black. Cam announced yesterday he would be no longer doing that after meeting with the league but that doesn’t mean we the fans can’t. We want you to get your very own “Iron Head” eye black and take a picture. Share it with us and Cam’s fan club. @camheywardfans. Heyward House is where to donate and get your eye black.

Tweet of the Day… Looks like someone enjoyed the Pens’ win last night.

Two names to keep an eye on are Derrick Lott and Ziggy Hood. You’re very familiar with Hood of course who was a former first round pick of the Steelers. He was released from Jacksonville yesterday. Lott was cut loose by the Buccaneers and can play in a 4-3 or 3-4 alignment. With the defensive line needing some depth, don’t be surprised if one or both get a call. My money is on Hood.

Ryan Shazier’s status will be dictated simply on how much he can practice this week. Yes, it’s that simple.

Here’s the deal with Maurkice Pouncey… A report from someone outside the Steelers’ organization said Pouncey had an infection on his surgically repaired ankle. He was given antibiotics and the infection cleared up. Keep in mind here, no one from “inside” the organization said a word about his status. He could return as soon as next week.

Dale Lolley reported that Antwon Blake had a cast on his wrist this morning. Stay tuned.

Have a great day Steelers Nation!
