SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Fitting the Bills” Edition

by Steeldad

Good day Steelers’ Fans. It’s Tuesday so that means the players are enjoying a day off while Head Coach Mike Tomlin will give his thoughts today on the state of the team heading into their contest with the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Tomlin’s presser is set for Noon Eastern today. You can see it live on steelers.com or at ROOT SPORTS.

The Steelers have not lost to the Bills during the regular season since 1999. The five games since that loss have been somewhat competitive but with the Bills struggling for much of the last 15 years the two teams just haven’t played often. The Steelers have won two in a row on the road so that should give them some confidence heading into Western New York.

Obviously practice will dictate things but there’s a decent chance we see DeAngelo Williams back this week. As good as Le’Veon Bell has been, he could really stand a breather now and then.

I expect to see a lot of ‘Terrible Towels’ this Sunday. Western New York has a lot Steelers’ fans and plus the travel isn’t that far from Pennsylvania either.

I’m not a big fan of Todd Haley using multiple tight end sets but I can live with them as long Jesse James and Ladarius Green are the only two being used. I say this because Green can be effective from just about every place on the offense. As much as Antonio Brown can benefit fro the presence of Green, so to can James who becomes the safety blanket for Ben Roethlisberger. We saw that a few times on Sunday.

Tweet of the Day… VWill giving some love to Ike.

Maurkice Pouncey is playing better and better each week. I thought he was ‘OK’ when the season began but he’s back to all-pro form. Can’t be easy missing a season and jumping right back in the way he did this year.

With so many good performances from guys on the defense Sunday, one that was kind of under the radar was Ryan Shazier. It’s not that he didn’t make big plays, it’s just the some of the other guys garnered more attention. Shazier’s presence on the defense is easily the most important one because of what he does and what he allows everyone else to do.

How’s that Christmas shopping going??

Have a great Tuesday Steeler Nation!
