SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “It’s Draft Week” Edition

Good Monday morning to you Steelers’ Fans!

The NFL Draft is finally here. We’ve already spend the last 7-10 days dealing with the “silly season” where rumors abound and if you thought that was interesting? The next 72 hours will be filled more hot air than a balloon race. There is no clear cut answer to the question of “who will the Steelers draft at 30?” It’s the last part of that question that you have to pay attention to. There are so many things that can happen ahead of us that it makes it very difficult to judge. What I can tell you is that the Steelers will largely stick to their recent paradigm. Best player available, from a power 5 conference, and a guy that ranks high on the SPARQ chart.

Last night on the Steel City Blitz Podcast presented by 26shirts.com/Pittsburgh, Ben, Cnic and I broke down Cnic’s most recent mock draft. We discussed his selections, other options and much more. We will have one final podcast before the Draft on Wednesday night at 10pm Eastern.

You may have noticed we have a new sponsor for the podcast and we couldn’t be happier. 26shirts.com/Pittsburgh has come aboard and there are several reasons way we are fired up about this. First of all is their concept which puts out a different “Pittsburgh-themed” shirt every two weeks but the quality is excellent and they donate portions of sales of each shirt to a local family or group in need. Needless to say, this is a great addition for us!

Tweet of the Day… From the beautiful sister of Big Ben.

For all I know, Warren Sapp may be right about potential number one pick Myles Garrett being lazy and not worthy of the first pick. However, I can’t recall the last time that Sapp said anything that I would actually give two craps about.

Eric Weddle said this weekend that this is the “strongest, most in-shape Ravens’ team ever” according to profootballtalk.com. Welp, we’ll see how that goes for them.

I’m sure I’ll say it again before this draft but I’m not a fan of drafting any quarterback. If the Steelers are in fact going to pull the trigger on one I’d almost rather they do it early. Get a guy you think could potentially start. Picking one in the 5th, 6th or 7th is a wasted pick especially considering how successful the Steelers have been with those selections.

Have a great week Steeler Nation!

I like to pick a sleeper pick every year, and well this years is Elijah Lee K State lb. I watch tape and this guy can play and could become an NFL starter. He is graded out a 5-6 round choice In all honesty i think he could be a 2nd year starter at ILB. Every one is entitled to a opinion , when i watch him i see a Steeler.
