SCB Steelers Quick Hitters for December 3rd, 2014

by Steeldad

The Steelers will practice today from 115-315pm.

-Bengals Coach Marvin Lewis and Quarterback Andy Dalton will be on conference calls with media at 1215pm and 1110am respectively.

-Wednesday is typically the best day for Steelers media folks to talk to players. I’ll be very intrigued to see what Ben Roethlisberger has to say regarding his hand.

-Roethlisberger did speak yesterday on his weekly radio spot and said the same thing I’ve been worried about for the last three weeks. He’s concerned Le’Veon Bell could be getting overworked and he’s not alone. I was surprised Josh Harris didn’t play on Sunday. He had an extra week to prepare with the bye and could have been used to spell Bell but was not.

-The Steelers have now scored 30+ points in six games this season. With one more such game, they’ll tie the team record with seven in one season set by the 1979 team.

– The Steelers have produced a 3,000-yard passer, 1,000-yard receiver and a 1,000-yard running back in the same season for the sixth time in franchise history (1979, 1997, 2001, 2009, 2010 and 2014).

-With four games remaining, Ben Roethlisberger has already reached the fifth spot in team history in terms of passing yards in a season. With just 19 yards Sunday, he’ll pass Terry Bradshaw and will own the top four spots himself.

-Antonio Brown continues to tear up the Steelers’ receiving records. At 96 receptions, he’s on pace to shatter Yancey Thigpen’s record of 112. He also became the first Steeler in history to record back-to-back 1,200 yard receiving seasons.

-Perhaps Brown’s biggest accomplishment is that he ranks behind only Marvin Harrison in terms of catches through the first 12 games of the season. Harrison had 109 receptions at this point in 2002.

-Le’Veon Bell fell two yards short of Frenchy Fuqua’s 1970 record of most yards from scrimmage in one game. Frenchy had 256 to Bell’s 254. Third on the list? Plaxico Burress with 253 in 2002.

-Cincinnati’s Andy Dalton has thrown as many touchdown passes as he has interceptions this season and the Steelers need to make sure Dalton keeps throwing picks. Pressure will help with that and we need to see more consistency in that area.
