SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Bye Bye Bye” Edition

Good Monday Steelers’ Fans!!

With all apologies to N’Sync, I choose to remember “Bye, Bye, Bye” because of Christopher Walken in that commercial with Justin Timberlake. Walken is one of those people you just pay attention to because he’s so odd… Anyway, the bigger reason for using that title is because the Pittsburgh Steelers are officially back to work. The Bye week is in the rearview mirror and it’s now time to focus on the Indianapolis Colts.

Without lifting a finger yesterday the Steelers’ lead in the AFC and AFC North grew slightly. The Black and Gold already hold a win over the Chiefs and they dropped a half-game behind in the loss column losing at Dallas. In the division, the Ravens fell at Tennessee while the Bengals were pounded by the Jaguars in Jacksonville. If you saw A.J. Green’s throw-down of Jalen Ramsey then maybe you took it the same way I did. Green has always been a very professional guy but I think that was pure frustration coming out on his part. Can’t say I blame him.

When last we saw our Steelers, Martavis Bryant was in sweats on the sidelines in Detroit. With the trade deadline long since gone, I expect Bryant to be back on the field. Whether we see a guy who plays hard and goes about his business in a professional manner remains to be seen. Hopefully you didn’t see his girlfriend’s tweets over the weekend. I’ll leave it at that.

Tweet of the Day… This is terrific stuff if you have the time.

Something to consider as we begin the second half of the season… Things really couldn’t be lined up better for the Steelers. Five of eight at home… No Andrew Luck, no Deshaun Watson and no Aaron Rodgers… They are on top of the AFC for home-field advantage and get the Patriots at home in December. It just seems all too perfect doesn’t it?

If Pro Bowl votes were cast today here are my Steelers heading there. On defense, Ryan Shazier, Cam Heyward and Javon Hargrave. On offense, Le’Veon Bell, Antonio Brown, David DeCastro and Maurkice Pouncey. There are several others I strongly consider too.

Troy Polamalu was inducted into USC’s Athletic Hall of Fame this past weekend. It was no surprise that Polamalu was as humble as ever. I miss him on the field but I miss his presence in the locker room just as much.

AFC North Standings: Pittsburgh 6-2, Baltimore 4-5, Cincinnati 3-6, Cleveland 0-8

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
