SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Is This Bud for Us?” Edition

Good Thursday to you Steelers’ Fans!!

Week Two Nail the Number is out!! $1,100 on the line plus some bonuses!!!

I have to admit, I didn’t see Bud Dupree missing the opener. His shoulder injury came out of nowhere. He had a very good camp and there were few reports if any that he was dealing with a bad shoulder. By mid-week he was questionable and by Friday he was already listed as “out.” His absence would eventually be a non-story because Anthony Chickillo would go on to grab two sacks and score a touchdown on Special Teams. As great as that effort by Chick was, Dupree is going to be needed for the long run. I hope his injury is not as serious as some think.

Speaking of injuries, the report from yesterday had Dupree listed as a ‘limited participant.’ Stephon Tuitt (biceps), Jerald Hawkins (knee) and J.J. Wilcox (concussion) did not practice.

My gut feeling is that Tuitt misses this week and perhaps another.

Tweet of the Day… Too cool and too cute!

I think that combined with a more prepared Le’Veon Bell and playing at home, the offensive line should be better this week. That said, the Vikings have one of the more formidable defenses in the NFL. I don’t expect a cakewalk by any stretch of the imagination.

Hard to believe it but this is a monstrous game tonight for both the Cincinnati Bengals and the Houston Texans. They were as unimpressive as any teams in the NFL in week one and with the Steelers and Ravens primed to go to 2-0 in the division, the Bengals are already up against the wall.

You probably saw that the Canadian Football League has decided to do away with full-contact in all practices. Do I think this is coming to the NFL? At some point perhaps but I’m not sure how soon. I think there’s a detriment to players who only have contact once a week in games. The body needs to be prepared for that punishment and just doing it in games will hurt the product and more players in my opinion.

Very excited to add a long-time Pittsburgh friend to the crew here at SCB. Christen Dummer is going to be doing a ton of social media work and a whole lot more for us. She’s had experience at iHeart Radio and ESPN 970 in Pittsburgh.

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
