SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Bell Tolls for Bell” Edition

by Steeldad

Good Thursday to you Steelers’ Fans!

The Steelers’ Le’Veon Bell was named AFC Player of the Month earlier today. Obviously the award reflects what Bell accomplished over the last four or five games but I also believe it’s a harbinger of what Bell can do for this team on Sunday. Not to mention what he could do for a long postseason run.

My optimism about Ladarius Green’s availability is waning. He is still in concussion protocol as of today and it’s pretty rare for guys not cleared by today to play on Sunday. He did however feel good after practice yesterday and just needs to be cleared by an independent neurologist.

Former Steelers’ cornerback Ike Taylor has an interesting suggestion. He wants the city of Pittsburgh to put speakers up around town and blast “Renegade” three times a day. I think Renegade is something unique to the Steelers and to Heinz Field. As funny as this would be (especially the response) I prefer keeping it how it is.

Here’s the latest injury report via steelers.com

I’m a big believer that Todd Haley has to be on top of his game in order for a lengthy playoff run.

SCB Contributor Brian had some observations from his trip to Heinz Field last week and he makes some good points as well.

Tweet of the Day… Bell (dooooooooonnnnnnnggggggg!)

It is now official. The Miami Dolphins will start Matt Moore at quarterback on Sunday. Ryan Tannehill will likely be inactive. I would not look past Moore’s ability. He’s had ample time to get into the swing of things in terms of being a starter so I expect him to be prepared.

The Steelers are hosting a pep rally on Friday on the North Shore. Check out the details here.

With Darrius Heyward-Bey back and Demarcus Ayers possibly getting a helmet this week as well, I have a hard time recalling when the Steelers’ had this much speed and quickness on offense. Factor in Antonio Brown, Eli Rogers and possibly Sammie Coates and that’s some serious speed.

Don’t forget the third phase of football especially when it comes to the postseason. Both Jordan Berry and Chris Boswell need to be on top of their games in terms of accuracy and distance.

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
