SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters for 9/23/16

by Steeldad

TGIF once again Steelers’ Fans!

Steelers’ wide receiver Markus Wheaton has participated fully in practice the last two days and barring a major setback today, I expect that he’ll play on Sunday. With him back, how Todd Haley uses his receivers will be one of the hot topics of the game.

Also on the injury front, Cam Heyward was limited yesterday with a knee issue. Heyward was not himself towards the end of the game Sunday as he had to hobble off twice in the fourth quarter. My initial thought was that he tweaked that ankle that bothered him in the preseason. Let’s hope it’s nothing serious.

Rob Golden has already proven himself to be a guy the Steelers rely on when it comes to special teams but now he’s carved himself  a nice place on D. When the Steelers use their dime package he slides in next to Ryan Shazier at linebacker. While he can come in in other packages Keith Butler really likes his ability and knowledge in the dime.

Don’t forget to get your ‘Nail the Number‘ pick in to @CraigScott31 by 8pm Eastern Saturday night.

Tweet of the Day… Seven continues to great things behind the scenes.

Speaking of Golden, he was on the field for 100% of the defensive snaps on Sunday. Sean Davis was on D for 64 snaps or 84% of the total. Jesse James, for the second straight game saw action in all offensive plays. I think that changes this week with the return of Markus Wheaton.

As mentioned above, if Cam Heyward isn’t 100% or can’t go at all, that concerns me greatly in many respects but most importantly as it pertains to run stopping. The Steelers have been great in the first two weeks against the rush and they need that to continue. Keeping the Eagles and Carson Wentz one-dimensional could go a long ways towards victory.

Look for my “Three-Point Stance” coming tomorrow with your keys to the win!
