SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters for 8/30/16

by Steeldad

Good Morning Steelers’ Fans.

The Steelers will need to be at 75 players on the roster by 4pm today. That means they need to drop four more players after releasing 11 over the weekend.

Lot of talk the last couple of days about Karlos Williams and the interest the Steelers may have in him. Part of this is because Williams’ brother Vince is already a Steeler and because he has been in Pittsburgh all week. The Steelers will likely kick the tires on Williams but they do on many players. With his own four-game suspension, bringing him doesn’t make sense for the short term. The long term though?

Here’s Chris’ take on the Risk-Reward of signing him.

A very solid article on Ben Roethlisberger from the Post-Gazette giving the reader unprecedented access. Not gonna sugarcoat it here though; I didn’t care for the writer’s approach to Roethlisberger. I felt like he didn’t really know what or who he was writing about. You can judge for yourself.

Don’t be surprised if the Steelers still sign Keenan Lewis. No other team seems to be interested in him as he’s dealing with a bad hip and hernia. If he can get back on track then he could come in after week one.

Tweet of the Day… Love this.

I’m starting a “Ladarius Green Countdown” clock. It’s all I have left to be honest. And…. Go. Day #1

If anyone has a right to give an opinion on Colin Kaepernick I would say Steelers’ left tackle Alejandro Villanueva is as good a choice as anyone. The former Army Ranger agrees that there are problems but doesn’t think Kaepernick is choosing the right way to draw attention to them.

Tired of me pushing “Nail the Number” yet? Too bad! How often does a blog get the opportunity to meet great people like Craig Scott who offers up $1,000 of his own money??? You need to get involved and it’s coming fast!!

Like all teams, the Steelers will kick the tires on a number of guys who are getting over the next week. The two major positions to keep an eye are cornerback and tight end. Just an FYI there.

Welp. Back to my real job today. Have a great day Steeler Nation!

UPDATE – Editor’s Note: One of our loyal readers has begun a blog of his own. I don’t know how often he plans on posting, but we would like to support a guy who has been a reader here from the very beginning. If you have a minute give Vittorio Di Stazio’s page a read. http://247nflnews.com/author/vstazio/

If any of you write, please feel free to let us know in the comments. We’d be happy to give you a shout out as well.
