SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters for 8/22/16

by Steeldad

Happy Monday Steelers’ Fans. Alright, ‘happy’ and ‘Monday’ probably shouldn’t go together so sue me…

I said over the weekend via Twitter (@SteelDad) that I thought Ladarius Green would be coming off the PUP list over the next few days. I feel this way because of the way the Steelers and Green spoke recently. With the Steelers as dangerously thin at tight end as they are, his presence would be more than welcome but I’ll be honest; my confidence isn’t high that he can stay healthy the whole season.

Speaking of ‘dangerously thin,’ the Steelers’ QB situation isn’t any better than tight end. With Bruce Gradkowski already sidelined with a hamstring injury and Dustin Vaughan now out with a broken wrist, the Steelers signed Bryn Renner. He left North Carolina in 2013 and is basically a stop-gap for now. I expect Ben Roethlisberger to play at the very least the first quarter if not the first half in New Orleans this week. The rest will be mostly Landry Jones who desperately needs a bounce-back performance after his four-interception half last week.

Tweet of the Day… DWill watching some pro ‘wrasilin!’

You’d think after one misstep after another on Twitter that Le’Veon Bell would have taken my advice and ‘deleted his account.’ Nope. Now he’s issued a challenge to followers…

The NFL has announced a significant change to the injury report. The term ‘probable’ will no longer be used on NFL injury reports. A study showed that 95% of players listed as ‘probable’ played. The remaining designations are ‘questionable,’ ‘doubtful’ and ‘out.’

In limited time this preseason, Lawrence Timmons has looked very good. Let’s hope that continues although I believe he’ll be relegated to two-down duty as much as possible.

Have a great week Steeler Nation!
