Good day Steelers’ fans! Believe it or not, today is the last open practice for Training Camp 2016. Goes fast doesn’t it?

Yesterday the Steelers held their annual “home run derby” and this year the winner was wide receiver Sammie Coates who certainly needed some positive news this week. This highlight for me however was seeing Ben Roethlisberger ride around the diamond on a three-wheel cart in his slippers.

Don’t expect James Harrison to back down now… My latest on this on-going situation.

Rookie linebacker Travis Feeney was thought to be a guy that could make a strong push for a roster spot but I can’t see it now. He’s missed way too much time due to injury and will be lucky to be on the practice squad in my opinion.

With Bruce Gradkowski suffering from a sever hamstring tear, I think two things; first of all Grad needs to be done. Good guy, just to easily injured at this point. Secondly, look for the team to go after a veteran quarterback on the market.

While I’m not surprised the Steelers released long snapper Matt Dooley, I am a bit surprised they signed a linebacker to replace his roster spot. Jermauria Rasco was added to the team yesterday. Perhaps this has something to do with Mr. Feeney as I mentioned above.

Tweet of the Day… I couldn’t not show you a pic if I mentioned it above right?

I was not a bit surprised to hear that Steelers’ defensive line coach John Mitchell was more animated and was really getting after his defensive line at practice yesterday. There were several plays where his charges were lazy or took really poor angles of pursuit. Dan McCullers was one of the guilty parties singled out.

The Steelers remain very thin at the cornerback position if you ask me. William Gay, Ross Cockrell and Artie Burns and then??? Doran Grant is an option but he may move to safety so I think this is an area they need to address.

The mystery surrounding tight end Ladarius Green continues. Wish I had an update for you but a they say “things are fluid” at the moment.

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
