SCB Steelers Quick Hitters for 8/15/16

by Steeldad

Good day Steelers’ Fans! Hope it’s good one!

Yesterday at practice both Markus Wheaton and Cody Wallace returned as full participants. Ryan Shazier did not practice but all systems appear to be go for Sunday. If he doesn’t practice Friday then I’d be concerned. DeAngelo Williams did not practice either but in his case it was a coach’s decision. That’s code for; “he’s 33 and needs rest.”

Pretty interesting snap totals from Monday night’s game. Rookie Sean Davis had 60 snaps including 48 on defense… Jesse James didn’t miss one offensive snap (68) and had a grand total of 79… Anthony Chickillo had 15 defensive snaps which almost equaled his grand total from last year… Sammie Coates had 44 offensive snaps which was much more than I expected.

While the Bengals have lost a couple of receivers to free agency and are without tight end Tyler Eifert because of injury, Steelers’ fans should not take them lightly. They still have A.J. Green, Andy Dalton and a couple of capable running backs. That said, getting to 2-0 with a divisional win in hand would be a huge step for the Steelers in 2016.

Sounds like the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review/Trib-Live is on life support. Steelers’ Beat Writer Mark Kaboly is leaving and speculation is that he’s going over to DK on Pittsburgh Sports. He might not be the last of the defections either.

Tweet of the Day… Very cool!

Thanks to Joe Kuzma of Steel City Underground for me on his show yesterday!

Sure was a lot of time spent on Alejandro Villanueva during the National Anthem Monday night and rightfully so. The former Army Ranger deserves every ounce of attention he gets. Unfortunately I hate that the attention was in large part because of Colin Kaepernick’s recent protests. ESPN was trying to change the narrative and they used Villanueva for it. Wonder if that’s why he got off to a bit of a slow start.

Congrats to DeAngelo Williams for being named AFC Offensive Player of the Week!

Did I mention Week Two of ‘Nail the Number’ is out?

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
