SCB Steelers Quick Hitters for 4/13/16

Midweek is here again Steelers’ Fans! This one’s going to be a bit salty…

Chris and I are underway with our first round mock. Here are selections 5-8.

Antonio Brown survived and advanced to the next round of ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Monday night. I swear if he ends up with foot problems this season I’m going to go ballistic.

Speaking of going ballistic… Le’Veon Bell has made it clear he wants to cut a rap song with Snoop Dogg. OK so let me get this straight… Bell, who has been popped for a marijuana violation, wants to go hang out with a guy who makes no bones (no pun intended) about using marijuana. Furthermore, Martavis Bryant was known to hang with another rapper/marijuana user Wiz Khalifa. Maybe I’m overreacting but perhaps Mike Tomlin needs to send another ‘warning tweet’ as he did with DeAngelo Williams.

And for the record, my personal feelings about the use or legalization of marijuana do not matter. If your company says you can’t use it then you don’t!

Oh and according to our friends at the Steelers Wire, Bell apparently released a photo of his album cover which features a Steelers’ helmet. I’m sure the Rooney’s are thrilled.

The Steelers had several more pre-draft visitors and one in particular caught my attention. Ole Miss defensive lineman Robert Nkemdiche was in on Monday. This is a guy who was once the most highly-decorated guy coming out of high school. There were times when I watched him at Ole Miss where he looked like a man among boys in terms of dominance but he’s also been a bonehead too. He fell out of a hotel window in December and was found to be in possession of synthetic marijuana. He’s an amazing talent but do the Steelers really want to deal with this especially in light of what, or who, I mentioned above?

Tweet of the Day… WJIII makes too much sense doesn’t he?

Other notable visitors on Monday were Colorado cornerback Ken Crawley, Alabama cornerback Cyrus Jones, Virginia Tech outside linebacker Dadi Nicholas, Maryland safety Sean Davis and Boston College safety Justin Simmons. The big name to me though was West Virginia safety Karl Joseph. Had this kid not blown out his knee last year I would think he’d be very high on the Steelers’ first round radar. In fact, he may still be.

Also in town was South Carolina wide receiver Pharoh Cooper.

The tragic death of former Saint Will Smith is teaching us another valuable lesson. While a road rage incident should NEVER result in gunfire, video has surfaced of Smith actually rear-ending the vehicle of the man who eventually shot him. Why Smith didn’t stop after clearly committing a traffic violation is beyond me. Was the handgun in his car not registered? Was he intoxicated? All he had to do was do the right thing and his kids would still have their father today. Just senseless.

OK, on to more positive stuff tomorrow… I hope.

Have a great Hump Day Steeler Nation!
