Earlier this offseason I laid out some of the passing marks that Steelers’ quarterback Ben Roethlisberger could pass during the 2014 season. When it comes to wins though, Big Ben is also closing in on some big numbers and bigger names.
Roethlisberger currently has an overall win/loss record of 95-47. With just seven victories this season (heaven help us) he would tie hall of famer Warren Moon. During the course of those seven wins he would also pass Ken Stabler (96), Drew Bledsoe (98), Dave Krieg (98), Donovan McNabb (98) and Jim Kelly (101).
Should Roethlisberger and the Steelers have a 12-win season, he would tie fellow Steeler Terry Bradshaw at 107 career victories.
One of the more interesting facts about where Roethlisberger currently stands is that you’d have to go 13 different quarterbacks behind him before you’d hit one that is still active. That 14th QB by the way would be Eli Manning who was drafted ahead of Roethlisberger in the 2004 NFL Draft. Manning currently has 85 wins.
Among the group that Roethlisberger has passed are some pretty good signal-callers. Steve Young, Bart Starr, Troy Aikman and Len Dawson are now in Roethlisberger’s rear-view mirror. Those four guys all happen to be in the Hall of Fame as well.
Obviously I think we would love to see Big Ben catch Bradshaw because that would mean the Steelers are in the playoffs and I’d be just fine with that.
