Fantasy Football Post-Week 1 Add/Drop

by Chris Nicolaou

After week one, we as fantasy football players must do our due diligence on the waiver wire. Who should we add to or drop from our rosters, and who should we monitor going forward?

Add

Tyrod Taylor, QB, Cleveland Browns – Tuh-Rod Taylor has weapons to throw to and adds value with his legs.

James Conner, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers – Conner has been great in the preseason and that carried over into the regular season. He is a RB2 until Le’Veon Bell is back in the fold.

Tyler Lockett/Brandon Marshall, WR, Seattle Seahawks – Both played decently in week one, but with Doug Baldwin out for some time, both have much added value.

Jared Cook, TE, Oakland Raiders – Cook went off week one and could be in for a good year. Carr looked for Cook many many times.

Jonnu Smith, TE, Tennessee Titans – Delanie Walker is now on IR with an ankle injury. Smith is a fill-in option.

Kenny Stills, WR, Miami Dolphins – This is a longshot, but if Stills is on the waiver wire, pick him up.

Monitor

Phillip Lindsay, RB, Denver Broncos – The Broncos starting running back is Royce Freeman, but Lindsay ate into Freeman’s workload in week one. They shared an equal stat-line of 15 carries for 71 yards. Lindsay added 2 catches for 31 yards and a touchdown. He is a player to add and monitor the distribution of the ball until it is settled.

Phillip Dorsett, WR, New England Patriots – With Julian Edelman still suspended and Hogan not emerging, Dorsett had a 7-66-1 stat-line and could be an interesting add in PPR.

Jordan Wilkins, RB, Indianapolis Colts – Marlon Mack is still dealing with a significant hamstring injury. Wilkins was just okay against the Bengals, so monitor his success going forward as the starter.

TJ Yeldon, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars – Monitor Leonard Fournette’s injury. It is listed as minor, but Fournette has had his share of injuries. Yeldon is the next man up.

Drop

Ronald Jones, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Jones wasn’t even active week one. Looks like Tampa Bay is going to take their time figuring out the running back position.

Delanie Walker, TE, Tennessee Titans – Walker is out for the year with an ankle injury.

TY Montgomery, RB, Green Bay Packers – Only two carries and three targets, Montgomery is now phased out of the offense with the emergence of Jamaal Williams and soon to be Aaron Jones.
