I don’t care if Antonio Brown is Self-Absorbed

by Steelbydesign

The story for much of this week is going to be about Antonio Brown; and not in a good way.

The story will be about how much Antonio Brown cares about himself, and what that means to the Steelers in the locker room. The story won’t be that Antonio Brown has 21 catches for  310 yards and 2 touchdowns in his last 3 meetings with the Patriots, which is what really matters if you ask me.

The media says he’s selfish. Resident “Steelers expert” at ESPN Ryan Clark has made sure everyone out there knows that he was in the locker room with Antonio Brown this week, and made sure to get HIS face on tv while saying of Brown; “Now it’s more important to see how many people look at your face when you smile. And that’s sad.”

If you ask me, using your former teammates to make a name for yourself in sports media is sad.

Do I think AB is a little bit in love with himself? Absolutely. Do I think that really matters to this team or it’s Superbowl chances? Not one bit.

If Antonio Brown were doing things to rub teammates the wrong way, and causing tension among teammates then I’d say there’s a problem. The Tomlin speech got all the press but did anyone think Vince Williams, Sammie Coates, Darrius Heyward-Bey, Eli Rogers, or Robert Golden appeared to have any problem with Brown filming them in the start of the video? Looked like they were all having a pretty good time together to me.

James Harrison makes sure the camera is rolling just about every morning at 5 a.m. when he’s doing work in the Steelers’ weight room. I understand that’s a lot different than what we’re talking about, but don’t you think that probably also comes from a place of vanity and/or ego to some degree?

Anyone complaining this week about the linebackers’ weekly “Flex Friday” video often seen on social media from the locker room?

Did it look like Mike Tomlin had a problem with Antonio Brown filming in the locker room after beating the Dolphins when Coach popped his head into the camera’s view yelling Brown’s famous catch phrase “BOOMIN!”

On a serious note, I understand why Mike might not be happy about what went down after the Chiefs games. Coach thought he was talking privately with his team (unlike when he yelled into the camera the week before). I totally understand why Tomlin will likely tell Antonio to put an end the live streaming within the locker room.

In all likelihood it was something Tomlin allowed because he probably never even thought about the consequences of it. The Patriots players are all turning their noses up this week about how “they” (the Steelers) do things it that locker room, but this is why Tomlin’s players love and respect him. He lets them be themselves. Remember when Wes Welker was benched by his coach for a lighthearted jab at Rex Ryan?

The filming of Coach Tomlin shouldn’t have happened but let’s not make this out to be bigger than it really is, attacking Brown’s character in the process. Antonio by all accounts, works harder than anyone else around when he laces up his cleats and that’s obvious by his play; and that’s all I really care about.

First Antonio Brown is a star on and off the field. is that bad ?? Second what he did was extremely wrong. What is important is that the Steelers must focus on one thing and that only. And that is what happens on the field and that only. We are very fortunate to get this great time to cheer for our team so often. Like i said at the start “i have a really good feeling about this team” GO STEELERS!!
