Good day Steelers’ Fans! Let’s get to it!
Pittsburgh’s Artie Burns said yesterday and I’m paraphrasing here, that “we need to play more man if we want to win Super Bowls.” He then mentioned that teams that have won championships in recent years have played mostly man coverage. Artie Burns isn’t wrong. All you have to do is go back to the AFC Championship Game where Mike Tomlin and Keith Butler almost exclusively played zone. That backs up Burns’ statement but it also creates a serious question about his teammate opposite of him. Ross Cockrell just doesn’t posses the man coverage skills necessary so this is a situation worth watching.
I have no doubt that we’ll be talking about Burns’ comments tonight on the Steel City Blitz Podcast presented by 26shirts.com/Pittsburgh. We go an hour earlier tonight at 9pm ET and with no Penguins on you better be listening!
Disgruntled Jets’ safety Calvin Pryor has been traded to the Browns. Talk about going from bad to worse!
I have to believe the Steelers feel like they have an enormous ace in the hole with Jerald Hawkins. With Alejandro Villanueva either playing for a small amount or not playing at all, Hawkins gives them a very nice insurance policy.
Tweet of the Day… An excellent question from DWill after Mr. Met flipped off his own fans.
How do we know he flipped of a fan he only has 4 fingers👀 so no true middle finger https://t.co/Kp5gkMhONj

The Steelers are expected to retire another number in the near future and as expected there has been a lot of speculation about whose number it will be. First you have to start with the numbers that aren’t retired, but are never issued. That means guys like Terry Bradshaw (12), Franco Harris (32), Mike Webster (52), Jack Lambert (58) and Jack Ham (59) are the leading contenders to be honored. My guess is that Harris or Webster is next up for the honor.
The Steelers announced their 2017 Training Camp Schedule yesterday. Here it is for your enjoyment.
The Pens moved a step closer to winning the Stanley Cup for the second straight season with a 4-1 win over Nashville last night. This means the Predators will have to beat Pittsburgh in four of the final five games and I just don’t see that happening.
Have a terrific Thursday Steeler Nation!
