SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Back In Action” Edition

Good Tuesday to you Steelers’ Fans! Hope you had enjoyable Memorial Day Weekend.

Today, tomorrow and Thursday, the Steelers are back in action as Phase Three of OTAs continue to roll on. While there are always questions, there are few of any real substance at the moment. Obviously, we need to begin with the status of Le’Veon Bell who did not attend last week’s workouts. There is one feeling that says he isn’t there because he is still recovering from his March groin surgery. The other feeling is that he’s not thrilled about his contract situation. The two sides haven’t spoken since early March as the Franchise Tag deadline looms closer and closer.

One of the other questions centers around Alejandro Villanueva. As an Exclusive Rights Free Agent, Villanueva has two options. He can sign or he can retire. As an ERFA, the Steelers hold his rights and he’s at their mercy. There’s no question he wants to be much more than the Steelers are required to pay him but that just isn’t going to happen. Kudos to Villanueva for being at OTAs however. One could never claim Big Al isn’t a team player.

Bell made some positive news last week when donated $750,000 to his former high school for upgrades to the football stadium. Good for Bell.

Tweet of the Day… Big Ben on the ice!

Random thought of the day… Why would anyone want to live in a tiny house especially if it’s more than two people? I don’t get it.

The Steel City Blitz Podcast presented by 26shirts.com/Pittsburgh will once again air live on Thursday at 10pm Eastern.

Congrats to the Penguins on their Game 1 win over Nashville. A little more tense then expected with a three-goal lead but a win is a win.

I’m probably beating a dead horse here but I can’t help it. Josh Dobbs will have to have an exceptional training camp and tremendous performances in preseason games to unseat Landry Jones as the team’s number two quarterback. Is that impossible? No, it certainly is not, but we have to have perspective here. Jones had a far superior collegiate career and has four years of experience in the NFL on Dobbs. Let’s get thru summer before we anoint Dobbs the number two.

One final Memorial Day shout out to all of the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice so that people like me can do what I do. Thank you.

Have a great Tuesday Steeler Nation!
