Pittsburgh Steelers’ Team President Art Rooney II formally announced the inaugural class of the team’s new “Hall of Honor” this morning. The requirements for entry into the Hall include any current member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and any former player who was with the Steelers a minimum of three seasons.
Special contributions to the Steelers is also considered which opens the door for coaches, front office personnel, scouts and other team officials.
This year’s inductees are: Terry Bradshaw, Joe Greene, Lynn Swann, John Stallworth, Johnny ‘Blood’ McNally, Jack Butler, Ernie Stautner, Mel Blount, Jack Lambert, Jack Ham, Dan Rooney, Art Rooney, Chuck Noll, Jerome Bettis, Dermontti Dawson, Dick Hoak, John Henry Johnson, Rod Woodson, Kevin Greene, Donnie Shell, Walt Keisling, L.C. Greenwood, Andy Russell, Mike Webster, Bobby Layne.
Of the 27 members in the class, 23 are members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The four inductees in the inaugural class not enshrined in Canton are LC Greenwood, Dick Hoak, Andy Russell, and Donnie Shell.
The individuals are honored with a custom-made football with their name, year of entry into the Hall and the Steelers’ logo.
The Steelers plan to induct a class of two to four additional players each year moving forward.
