Steel City Blitz Quick Hitters for August 6th, 2014

by Steeldad

Stephon Tuitt is having a great camp and continues to push for time with the starters.

If you’re heading to camp today then here’s everything you need to know. The steelers.com official training camp guide is right here.

-Practice today begins at 255pmET. Take an umbrella today as the forecast calls for 75 degrees and a chance of thunderstorms.

-A great piece on Stephon Tuitt from the Tribune-Review’s Alan Robinson.

-The Post-Gazette’s Ed Bouchette on Dri Archer being compared to Chris Rainey.

-With Andy Dalton of the Bengals finally getting the extension we knew was coming, the talk immediately turned to Ben Roethlisberger despite the knowledge that his contract will not be dealt with until next offseason. What is sad is that much of the negotiations next offseason will center on what Roethlisberger and the Steelers do on the field in 2014. Common sense tells us that Big Ben can walk in and demand $20 million per year right off the get-go but it will all come down to one question; will the Steelers want to pay it?

-NFL Insider Pat Kirwan offers his thoughts on how the Steelers get to 10-6 this season.

Good Steelers’ info from Scott Brown at ESPN.

-LB Vince Williams continues to have a great camp despite knowing that he’s going to open the season behind rookie Ryan Shazier. I think Williams will be a demon on special teams and could see time in short yardage and goal line defense.

-With the Steelers getting ready for their first preseason game on Saturday in New York, remember that stat lines don’t always tell the whole story. The coaches will look for how guys react, how they carry themselves and how do they adjust to situations. Essentially, stats don’t mean a whole lot in the preseason.

-Look for more tomorrow as the Steelers get back to the practice field today.

-Video for today is a little something from camp. Steelers Garbage Can Toss
