Steel City Blitz 1st Round Mock Draft – Picks 1-4

by Steelbydesign

Once again, Marc and I are doing out annual full first round mock, 4 picks at a time. I’ll be taking the odd numbered picks, and Marc has the evens.

1. Tennessee Titans- Jalen Ramsey, CB/S, Florida State
The Titans weren’t a very good team last year, but they have managed to fill some of a team’s most important spots over the past couple of seasons, selecting their Quarterback last season and a blindside protector the season before. Leremy Tunsil would still be a good pick here, given the importance of protecting Mariota, but I see think that Ramsey is the best player in this draft and will make multiple pro bowls. Dick Lebeau was pretty successful with an all-pro safety in Pittsburgh, and while Ramsey is a different kind of player than Polamalu was, he could have a similar impact on the Titans stop unit.

2. Cleveland BrownsJared Goff, QB, California
The Browns have to get it right at some point at the quarterback position don’t they? I mean, the law of averages has to play in somewhere doesn’t it? Personally, I like the athleticism of Carson Wentz a little more than I like Goff but I feel like Goff is more ‘NFL ready.’ Goff has played in an offense in college that relies more on his skills as a passer whereas Wentz was expected to do a lot with his feet which is fine at the collegiate level but not in the NFL. Yes, the Browns have signed Robert Griffin III but I don’t think that should sway them from Goff.

3. San Diego Chargers –Laremy Tunsil, OT, Ole Miss
It seems like the Chargers have been connected to the top tackle prospects available for years, but things just never seem to shake out that way. This year I think is the year that they pull the trigger. They have a great Quarterback that really gets overlook in Phillip Rivers. Getting him some time in the pocket should be a big step in getting them back to a playoff caliber team.

4. Dallas CowboysJoey Bosa, DE, Ohio State
As tempting as a quarterback or Ezekiel Elliott might be here for Jerry Jones, I think he selects Bosa. With the troubled Greg Hardy gone, the Cowboys need a guy who can pressure the QB and Bosa appears to be the cream of that crop. While Bosa did have a relatively ‘average’ season in 2015, he has all of the tools necessary to become a feared pass rusher in the NFL. I couldn’t argue much with the selection of Elliott here or a QB considering how broken down Tony Romo has become but I think Bosa is the pick here.

C’mon guys. This is the Browns we’re talking about. They’re going to trade back twice and take Hack in the mid twenties. Probably pick 22, where all the bad college QBs go to die.
